Lizard Without a Tail

21 May

Lizard without a tailLook at this.

This is the strangest lizard.

Or a poor excuse for a lizard.

It has no tail.

Well, it kind of has a stub where its tail should be.

But I think I know why.

We have lots of lizards on my trails but my person hardly ever gets pictures of them.

All we see of them is the tail end as they scurry away.

But this lizard is hanging out for pictures.

Which means, some time ago it must have hung out long enough for somebody to catch it by the tail.

And you know what lizards do when they’re caught by the tail?

They drop their tail.

And the would be lizard eater is left with just a wriggly tail in its mouth while the lizard scurries away.

But this lizard better watch it because now it has no more tail to drop.

At least until that little stub turns into a new tail.

.

Get along little lizard.

Lizard on the trail running off

It’s about time you left.

Hey, I just realized something.

That lizard took over my whole blog.

Bongo sitting and smiling

Please forget that you ever saw a lizard.

This blog is supposed to be about me.

And see, I even have a tail.

BOL! I have lots of lizards in my back yard and for some strange reason, most do not have tails. I wonder why….*looks around innocently*

Thanks Sue Ann. I guess nobody would want to read a blog about a lizard.

Pigs, you look awesome and cute without tails, but a lizard without a tail looks funny.

Lily & Edward, my person says I’m not allowed to eat those lizards. Something about they might make me sick.

Keep an eye on your tail, B. Lizard tails falling off is one thing, but we doggies need our tails to communicate!

Cupcake, I totally agree. I’ll hold on tight to my tail. Sometimes I wind it on tighter by wagging it in circles.

Bongo, Molly promises she didn’t steal those lizard’s tails. All the ones she stepped on or tickled with her teeth were a different color…she thinks….maybe….if you want she’ll try to locate those detached tails and send them to you…

Molly, maybe I could stick one of the detached tails back onto that lizard.

Lizard? What lizard? I never saw any lizard! Ah, you are such a compassionate doggy, Bongo even if this poor amputated creature took over [for very little] your blog! 🙂

Thanks Marina for ignoring that lizard and focusing on me. I’ll have to keep the lizards away from my blog.

I didn’t know that about lizards. We have chameleons around here. One place I lived they would sun on my front door and when I opened the door they would drop in. They would stay awhile…until I could catch them and put them back in the yard. But there was often one on a lamp or the TV or the dresser.

Patricia, that’s funny about those chameleons. The lizards here hardly ever come in our house, but once we found one sitting in the middle of the living room floor. My person thought it was a piece of cardboard at first but when she saw it was a lizard she trapped it in a box and put it outside. Scratchy wanted to get it out of the box.

Bongo, are you and your humans safe from the Slide Fire? We saw it on the news here in Indiana tonight. 😦

Thanks for your concern Lindy, and good to hear from you. My post from today has a couple pictures of the smoke, but we’re in no danger from the fire. It’s heading north toward Flagstaff and there are a couple areas south of Flagstaff that have been put on notice that they may have to evacuate. So far no injuries or loss of structures reported but we’re praying for all the firefighters and the people in its path.

Thanks for responding Bongo. Very relieved to hear it’s not that close to you. It always breaks my heart hearing about these fires. Bad enough when they are started by lightning, but when it’s caused by humans…grrrr! Yes, praying for the firefighters (!) and, of course, those who have their homes and businesses in the in the path of the fire.

        Take care,
        ~Lindy

Epicaldragon, at least that lizard will grow a new tail. I hope it’s wizened up and keeps it next time.

Poor lizard…..I wonder who lizard eater is….scary….Oh! Of course this blog is yours Bongo…NOT poor Mr tailless lizard’s. Besides your tail looks much much prettier than his….so please be careful not to be caught!

      May 22, 2014 at 11:09 pm

Kevin, I’ll watch out so nobody catches my tail. That lizard eater could be a dog, or a bird, or maybe even a kid trying to catch it. I guess this world is a dangerous place for lizards.

Collies, I wonder if those pesky squirrels drop their tails if someone grabs it. Maybe you should grab a tail and find out.
