What a Difference a Day Can Make

14 Aug

Bongo on the trailYesterday was the worst day ever!

All day long there was thunder, thunder, thunder.

I didn’t dare take my person for a walk.

She would have gotten scared and run off for sure.

The thunder finally stopped at night, but the rain kept coming.

All night long it rained – and even into the morning.

But finally, everything changed.

My people left me – well, that’s another story – but while they were gone my neighbor dog Toby came and busted me out of dog jail and we went for a walk together.

Finally, my people came back home.

I got to show my person how much nicer things were on my trails.

The sun had come bursting through the clouds, the rain had cooled things down, the air was clean and fresh, and the hummingbirds darted here and there because there wasn’t even any wind.

And everywhere I stuck my nose…

Bongo sniffing some grass

…there were great sniffs.

Bongo sniffing some rocks

And more great sniffs.

Bongo in his puddle

My puddle was full.

Bongo under a juniper tree

I even found a tree that was willing to scratch my back.

Bongo sniffing the base of a bush

Oh, and did I remember to tell you how many great sniffs I found?

A day sure can make a difference.

Thanks Fredrieka. It was really great to get out on my trails again with no thunder in sight – or is that in sound.

Patrecia, it was really great to find my puddle again. It’s been coming and going all summer.

Lily & Edward, the puddles are the best part. It would just be nice to have all the puddles without the thunder.

Kevin, that scratching back tree was awesome. Now if I can just keep the thunder away permanently.

Nothing like a great walk full of awesome sniffs. And a tree to scratch your back. What a great day!

Thanks Susan. I wish all the days this time of year were the days after a thunder day.
