There’s a little valley on my trails that goes down, and then it goes right back up. At the bottom, if it’s been raining there’s a little tiny stream that flows into a wash. If there’s water there its fun to get my feet wet, but my person usually steps over it. She just doesn’t know how to have fun.
What I really like to do is run down that trail building up speed, and then run right back up the other side. I should be able to get all the way to the top that way without any effort at all.
There’s a problem though. A really serious problem. And it’s called My Person. She won’t run. She just keeps plugging along at her same old usual pace. So what happens to me?
I’m running up that hill and I hit the wall. Except the wall is behind me. It’s called “the end of my leash.” All that wasted energy. I’ve still got to go the rest of the way up the hill and all I can do is plod along at my person’s speed. All because she won’t step up the pace and run along with me.
Maybe I should put her on a leash and see how she likes it.
