See that white spot on my head? No, not that one – the other one. The one above my eye. It’s not supposed to be there.
Here’s what happened.
I was walking along my trails, minding my own business when all of a sudden these three dogs come running toward me. And all three of them decided they were going to come over and check me out. They were friendly enough alright, and I sniffed noses back. What else could I do with my person holding me on a short leash? But then one of them, the one that looks like my friend Alfie, decided he was going to kiss me. Really slobbery kisses. No offense Alfie, but if we ever meet on my trails I’m cool with sniffing, but don’t ever kiss me.
Well, I had to give that Alfie look alike what for and I started barking at him. That got all three of my new friends to back off. Guess I told them.
Now I’ve just got to figure out what to do about this stuff all over my head. Eeew! Dog slobber!
February 1, 2012 at 10:46 am
I am curious now … What if a female dog had kissed you?
February 1, 2012 at 11:01 am
Sweet Kitten, I guess I might have to get used to that slobber thing.

Heehee–Gertie sometimes looks like that after a raucous play session with Duke. And sometimes after doggie daycare too, but I don’t think she minds. This is kind of off the subject, but I love the name Alfie for a dog!
February 1, 2012 at 11:03 am
Andrea, you mean other dogs get slobbered on too? I thought I was the only one. Maybe I should share my slobber with some of my friends.
February 1, 2012 at 10:53 am
My best pal, Stella, slobbers on me all the time. I don’t mind it.
February 1, 2012 at 11:17 am
Lola, I guess maybe it would be different if that dog was a good friend. I’m not sure though. I’ve never had a slobbery dog friend before – and I usually only slobber on cute girls.
February 1, 2012 at 11:09 am
Gross isn’t it! Slobber is a regular occurrence around our house. Double eeewwww!
February 1, 2012 at 11:11 am
Bassetmomma, I like it much better when I’m giving it out, but I don’t like getting it back.
February 1, 2012 at 11:57 am
Gotta love a dog with slobber on his head…lol
February 1, 2012 at 12:40 pm
Teresa, the best part of having slobber on my head is that I can rub it off on someone else.
February 1, 2012 at 5:13 pm
I know dogs like you. 😉 I have two of them.
February 1, 2012 at 6:37 pm
Teresa, do your dogs like to slobber on you?
February 1, 2012 at 12:07 pm
That’s disgusting!! Have they never heard of personal space and not being too forward!! Some Dogs, hey?! Tee Hee
Hope you didn’t have to have a bath Dude!
Your pal Snoopy 🙂
February 1, 2012 at 12:42 pm
Snoopy, no bath – but my person was threatening to. It seems like all the unleashed dogs on my trails like to come over and greet me, but none of them has ever kissed me before.

Roooo! That’s so funny, a doggie who looks just like me doing mischief as well *waggy tail*
February 1, 2012 at 12:44 pm
Alfie, you and that look alike doggie must be two of a kind. Just don’t kiss me if we ever meet up.
February 1, 2012 at 12:37 pm
I know how you feel Bongo, my foster sisters are the biggest slobberers in the whole dog world. You need a raincoat when they are around.
February 1, 2012 at 12:48 pm
Dexter Dog, I feel sorry for you with those slobbery foster sisters. I hope you’re wiping the slobber back off on them. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’ll send my person your way too.
February 1, 2012 at 1:07 pm
Ewwww, dog slobber!! BOL!!
February 1, 2012 at 6:27 pm
Higgins, I think I’ll stick with cute girls. I can slobber all over them and they don’t slobber back.
February 1, 2012 at 2:20 pm
You told them who’s who, Bongo!
February 1, 2012 at 6:28 pm
Winsomebella, at least they backed off with my barking. Maybe I should have let them stay and slobbered right back on them.
February 1, 2012 at 3:22 pm
*giggles* I thought it was bird poop, so I guess slobber is a step up!
February 1, 2012 at 6:29 pm
Rumpy, I guess slobber is a step up when you put it that way. My person says she has been with two different people when bird poop landed on their heads.
February 1, 2012 at 3:29 pm
Okay, Bongo – I’m with you: Ewwwww! Get it off, get it off, Get. It. Off!!!
February 1, 2012 at 6:30 pm
Leslie, my person had to wipe it off when we got home. By then it was all dried up.
February 1, 2012 at 3:43 pm
I’m the only slobbering slobberer around here. Sometimes, there’s a puddle of slobber on the floor if Mom makes me wait too long for a cookie. Maybe your Person can wipe your head with a wet paper towel. Whenever Mom does that to me (every day!), I act like she’s killing me, but secretly, it feels GREAT!
Love and ….sniffs,
February 1, 2012 at 6:31 pm
Cupcake, I do that slobbering thing on the floor too, but I don’t think the floor gets very upset about being slobbered on. When we got home my person did wipe the slobber off with a paper towel.
February 1, 2012 at 3:54 pm
Bongo tell your person to keep baby wipes handy for such sticky encounters. They’re cheaper than dog wipes and work just as well.
February 1, 2012 at 6:33 pm
Sandra, my person doesn’t usually carry much with her on our walks – but she did clean me up a little when we got home.
February 1, 2012 at 4:01 pm
Hi Bongo, it’s nice to meet you! I’m sorry you got slobbered on. My brother and sister slobber on me sometimes…..I guess it’s a dog thing!
Rusty and Co.
February 1, 2012 at 6:36 pm
Hi Rusty, nice to meet you too. No other dogs at my house to slobber on me – just a cat and fortunately he doesn’t slobber. His claws can be pretty nasty though. Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’ll send my person your way too.
February 1, 2012 at 5:20 pm
Ginger says just wipe your head on their fur when this happens and that will teach them! LOL
Lots of Collie Hugs!
The Collies and Chuck 🙂
February 1, 2012 at 6:38 pm
Collies and Chuck, I thought about wiping that slobber back off on them, but it was too late. I’d already chased them off.
Twinkle & the feisty4poo-mix dogs
February 1, 2012 at 5:47 pm
Bongo, it’s not a real kiss if it’s not wet… but a slobber is definitely an overkill – Keanna
February 1, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Keanna, I agree. That slobber was just too much.
February 1, 2012 at 7:03 pm
My boyfriend, Mojo, slobbers on me when we are having fun. He is a big slobberer. Sometimes I slobber back. – Lulu Belle of DogDaz
February 1, 2012 at 8:26 pm
Dogdaz, I guess if you slobber back it makes it okay.
February 1, 2012 at 8:10 pm
I agree with Rumpy . . . at least it wasn’t bird poop! That would be way more disgusting especially if it came from a big bird like a vulture or something. Maybe you should practice the cool art of spitting. Give them dogs a good splat everywhere! 🙂
February 1, 2012 at 8:27 pm
Sunshine, now I’m hoping I see those dogs again so I can give the slobber back.

Maybe a little off topic, however, Just wanted to post a little note to let you know how much I enjoy your site. It’s nice to see a quality dog resource for us canine lovers. Keep up the grrrrr-eat work!

Thanks Debbie – and thanks for stopping by and commenting. I’ll send my person over to check out your site too.
February 1, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Which is why I insist on going to the groomers as often as I can. I detest slobber and the like. I feel your pain, Bongo.
February 1, 2012 at 10:43 pm
Henry, I don’t think my person will take me to the groomers, but it sure would be a good way to get that slobber off.
February 1, 2012 at 10:52 pm
Holy smokes, that’s a lot of slobber! Personal space!
February 2, 2012 at 12:01 am
Jen, that’s what I thought. My whole head was invaded.
February 2, 2012 at 1:11 am
Bongo, this is disgusting, slobber of an unknown dog. Bah!
February 2, 2012 at 6:02 pm
Angelswhisper, I agree. I’m hoping I find that dog again so I can give the slobber back.
February 2, 2012 at 1:47 am
Yuck! tell [person to get tissue to wipe it off..yuck! yuck!
February 2, 2012 at 6:03 pm
Patreciau, my person did wipe it off when we got back home. Yuck is right!
February 2, 2012 at 5:09 am
We have a lot of dog slobber around here Bongo. Sometimes Storm’s head is covered with it from Thunder kisses. I guess she is used to it…lol.
February 2, 2012 at 6:04 pm
Brown Dawgs, I don’t think it would be so bad if I knew the dog giving me the slobber kisses.
February 2, 2012 at 5:27 am
Next time, slobber him back! […or maybe not, you are after all a superior dog!]
February 2, 2012 at 6:05 pm
Marina, it’s a hard choice between staying superior and returning the slobber.
February 2, 2012 at 6:14 am
Wow Bongo, you’re very popular to get that slobbery kisses! *giggles* but yes, you’re right, the slobbery kisses are too much! You have to take a small towel when you go for a walk next time!!! 🙂
February 2, 2012 at 6:11 pm
Kevin, I’m not sure I want to be popular if it means slobbery kisses from total strangers. Maybe my person knows what she’s doing when she tries to keep me away from other dogs. I do like the sniffing noses part.
Hawk aka BrownDog
February 2, 2012 at 6:53 am
Too bad you were on a short leash.
Y’all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
February 2, 2012 at 6:12 pm
Hawk, it really would have been fun if I could have gone running off with those dogs – but my person won’t ever let me.
Chancy, Mumsy and Crew
February 2, 2012 at 6:53 am
Wow! Sweet Bongo that was one big slobbery kiss. It’s gettin’ pretty bad when you may have to start carrying a blow dryer on your walk. Maybe if you run real fast all that slobber will blow off. You are just so cute and sweet you gotta expect a slobbery kiss at least ever now and then. Hugs and nose kisses
February 2, 2012 at 6:14 pm
Chancy and Mumsy, I think my person is just going to have to keep a blow dryer with her all the time. First, I could have use one after swimming and now for the slobbery kisses. Hugs and nose kisses back to you.
February 2, 2012 at 10:25 am
Ewww. Stranger’s slobber. That’s one good reason my person wears jeans just the right length to rub stuff off on….like having one of those paper towel dispensers for dogs…only it’s not paper or disposable. Be on the watch next time, Bongo and slobber first?
February 2, 2012 at 6:17 pm
Karen, I’m good at slobbering when it comes to cute girls. I just didn’t think about it with another dog. I’ll know better next time.
February 2, 2012 at 11:59 pm
Yikes! You poor thing!
February 3, 2012 at 8:43 am
eof737, it really was pretty awful getting all that slobber on me, but I’m hoping I find that dog again because I think I’m gonna return all that slobber.
February 6, 2012 at 6:04 am
I hear it’s good for the complexion 🙂
February 6, 2012 at 2:18 pm
Bassa, is that why my skin has had that rosy glow to it lately?
February 6, 2012 at 7:21 am
Newfs don’t usually slobber on other dogs just us people, lucky huh (not). We always carry a slobber tag to wipe mouths everywhere so they meet others with a dry mouth!!
February 6, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Tylers, I’m like the newfs – I only slobber on people. This was the first time I met a dog who slobbered on other dogs.
