This morning we got into the 4Runner and I wasn’t sure where we were going, but last time we got in it we had lots of fun, so I was excited. We drove for awhile and then we stopped. No long trip on bumpy roads. I guess we weren’t headed for that fun place we went to last time. We got out of the 4Runner and guess who I found there. My little friend who was at my house the other day. Maybe I can go on the trails with him again. And my little friend’s parents were there too. We were in a parking lot, but that was okay because I was with friends. But then my person walked away. Was she deserting me? Oh man, I was worried. Oh here she comes. No problem person. I knew you were coming back.
We got back in the 4Runner and went for a ways on some bumpy roads. And then we got out again. Hey, I know this place. My swimming hole is down there. Let’s go.
I got so excited I wrapped myself around a post.
There’s a swimming hole here. What do you mean that’s not the one?
I’ve got a stick. Could somebody throw it for me?
I’m not sure why you’re making such a big deal about crossing the creek.
See, it’s easy.
Yay. We finally made it to my swimming hole.
Just a little shake. Anybody else wet?
I met a few dogs, but I didn’t really care. I’d gone after my younger person. He was cutting a new stick for me.
Come on person. Throw the stick for me.
Everybody started eating lunch and they wouldn’t throw sticks for me anymore. I didn’t care about eating. I only wanted to fetch sticks. I guess I’ll have to get my own stick.
My Little Friend couldn’t throw the sticks very far, but at least he tried.
I’m not ready to head back yet.
Yippee! They let me go in for one last swim.

February 27, 2012 at 11:01 am
Bongo, this is my favorite post of yours – ever! I love it, from the picture of you sitting in the 4Runner, to the picture of you holding the stick and waiting for someone to throw it, to the picture of you in your swimming hole… pure joy!
I miss my dogs, but we’re going home in one week, so soon I’ll be able to throw sticks for them, too!
Thanks for making me smile today 🙂
February 27, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Mom, glad you liked this post. It was a really fun day. And so happy for you – and your dogs – that you will get to throw sticks again for them soon.
February 27, 2012 at 11:29 am
That photo at the beginning is a dog on a Quest.
Love it 😉
February 27, 2012 at 1:18 pm
Teresa, I definitely found what I was looking for on that Quest.
February 27, 2012 at 11:48 am
Wow you sure had a fun time, Bongo! I’m jealous!
February 27, 2012 at 1:19 pm
Daisy, you’ll have to come join me next time. Plenty of room for more.

Dexter, it’s a great swimming hole. I just wish it was closer to my house so I could go more often.
February 27, 2012 at 2:07 pm
A perfect day – and I love the way you think big when you think about sticks!
February 27, 2012 at 2:10 pm
Karen, the bigger the stick the better. I can’t figure out why my people don’t want to throw those big ones for me though.
February 27, 2012 at 2:26 pm
They are just stick-in-the-muds!
February 27, 2012 at 3:04 pm
Wow, Bongo, what a fun day – sticks and swimming – what more could a dog ask for? 🙂
February 27, 2012 at 5:05 pm
Laurie, it really was a fun day.
February 27, 2012 at 3:09 pm

February 27, 2012 at 5:06 pm
Jet, it was such a great day – and it’s great that your comments are now coming through okay.
February 27, 2012 at 6:25 pm
I’m so glad you figured out how to retrieve them, Bongo… we like to support our pals’ posts!
February 27, 2012 at 10:12 pm
Jet, I can’t believe it. Your last comment came through okay, but now this one was in my spam box and I had to rescue it. I don’t know what’s going on.
February 28, 2012 at 3:47 am
Bongo, we appreciate you checking your Spam box… it’s that silly cyber stuff, Mom and I try to understand it all, it’s super complicated!
February 28, 2012 at 11:14 am
Jet, I hope it gets straightened out soon, but in the meantime my person says she will keep checking my spam box. In the past she’s occasionally found Snoopy and a few other friends in there too.
February 28, 2012 at 11:35 am
Hey Bongo, please give your person a Jetty hug for me! We appreciate her perserverance. 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 12:04 pm
Will do Jet. Although I might give her slobbery kisses instead.

Hawk, I really did have a great time. I’ll stop by in awhile and see what you’ve been up to.
February 27, 2012 at 4:49 pm
That looks like a beautiful spot for a dip Bongo, and that first stick you had was great… I hope someone was brave enough to try and throw it for you!
February 27, 2012 at 5:08 pm
Flo, I couldn’t get anyone to throw that stick for me. I can’t figure out why.

February 27, 2012 at 6:07 pm

February 27, 2012 at 5:42 pm
That looks like a fun day Bongo. The swimming being the best part. Well maybe the little friend throwing sticks was good too. 🙂
the brown dawgs
February 27, 2012 at 6:08 pm
Brown Dawgs, swimming is the best and I got lots of sticks thrown for me.
February 27, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Rumpy, it was the best.

February 27, 2012 at 6:20 pm
Wooo Bongo, that looks like SUCH a fun time!!! Your swimming hole, your little friend, meeting other dogs and lots of playtime!?! Sounds like a great day 🙂
February 27, 2012 at 6:23 pm
Deanna, it was the best day ever.
February 27, 2012 at 11:43 pm
Great photos, and I love your swimming hole. Bongo, you should tell your person that this would make a wonderful children’s book. I think kids would love following your adventures. 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 12:23 am
Thanks Monica. My swimming hole is the best. I’ll have to put in a word about the book thing to my person.
February 28, 2012 at 12:58 am
What a great story. And what a pretty place to take dogs. I would love to have a swim there; especially on a day like today where its 34C (98F).
February 28, 2012 at 10:46 am
Thanks Charlie. It was a perfect day – warm but not hot, but none of the people would go in the water. They complained it was still too cold. Today we have snow. It will be a few months before we have temperatures like yours. I’ll for sure have to get my people to take me there again then.
February 28, 2012 at 1:28 am
My Sweet Pea enjoys fetching sticks from the water, but digging holes seems to be her very favorite activity. (Besides eating bacon). 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 10:48 am
Susie, I don’t dig very often, but I sure think fetching sticks out of the water is fun – and I’ll take the bacon any day.
February 28, 2012 at 1:32 am
When I saw the title I thought “yes, Bongo is in for a great time”! Your face is sparkling with euphoria! I hope you do this more often. Such an invigorating experience for the whole family!
February 28, 2012 at 10:50 am
Marina, I sure did have a great time. I wish my people would take me there every day, but they say that since it takes an hour to get there we can only do it sometimes.
February 28, 2012 at 1:33 am
What a great place to be, Bongo. Love to see you having such a good time, you send out so much power and energy 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 10:51 am
Thanks Angels Whisper. It was so much fun.
February 28, 2012 at 1:52 am
OMD! I’m really jealous of you Bongo!!! How lucky you are! That place looks heaven like your trail! The weather is so lovely and the nature is very beautiful! The air must be soooo fresh! Wooohooo!!! The stick you’re mouthing is quite long one! Your wet face is also very adorable Bongo!!! 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 10:52 am
Thanks Kevin. That place is like heaven, and the temperature was perfect that day. Today we have snow, but not enough on the ground to play in.
February 28, 2012 at 5:38 am
You’re a lucky dog Bongo having such a great place to visit, can I come next time?
By the way I just tagged you – check it out http://bonesdiary.wordpress.com/
February 28, 2012 at 11:02 am
Bones, I just stopped by to check out the tag. My swimming hole is really a great place and I would love to have you come with me next time. My person said something about you would have to take a plane though. I’m not sure what she’s talking about.
February 28, 2012 at 6:33 am
Fantastic photos Bongo. I wish I had been there with you – I would have made a big splash! 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 11:03 am
Thanks Bassa. I wish you could be there with me too. It would be fun to splash together.
February 28, 2012 at 7:14 am
What a great trip and that swimming hole is beautiful! We had to laugh at the stick! Mighty big stick… Laddie here loves sticks like that.. or he used too until he got his.. ahem.. ball!!! LOL
What a great time you had!
The Collies and Chuck 🙂
February 28, 2012 at 11:04 am
Collies and Chuck, it was the first stick I found – and I really wanted someone to throw a stick for me. It was a great day.

It looks like you had a great time! Sometimes we jump the stone wall around our yard and frolic in the stream that is there. It is so fun.
-Bella and DiDi
February 28, 2012 at 12:02 pm
Bella and DiDi, I had a wonderful time. You are lucky to have a stream so close to your house. I’d be jumping the fence with you. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
February 28, 2012 at 11:21 pm
We are so happy for you Bongo, you got to go back to your swimming hole and swim again. We knew you would, and take friends. The one with the big place to swim and the beautiful rocks. We love your trails and you looked like you were having so much fun!!! We wouldn’t have been ready to go home yet either but you’ll be back. Till next time…
February 29, 2012 at 12:11 am
Tylers, it was such a great day. I can’t wait for my people to take me again. I think I’ll have to keep bugging them. My person did say she’d like to get some pictures there when the leaves are on the trees.
February 29, 2012 at 7:17 am
Thanks for sharing your adventure Bongo! You have a great swimming hole! Are there any snakes? Just wondering. Snakes, bleh! I’m sure you can take them out and wish you could take them out of this planet. Just the poisonous ones. 🙂
February 29, 2012 at 11:00 am
Sunshine, my person says she’s seen snakes there – when they camped further down the trail years ago – but I haven’t seen one. She says there are rattle snakes which are poisonous but they only bite in self defense – so unless someone accidentally steps on one or I start harassing one we’re pretty safe.
February 29, 2012 at 8:57 am
Oh, that looks like so much fun! My dog Maya would have loved to go with you Bongo. The nearest “decent” swimming hole we have where dogs can run off leash is 40 minutes away so we don’t get to go there very often.
February 29, 2012 at 11:03 am
Dawn, we have the same problem here. This swimming hole is an hour’s drive and a hike – but it sure is fun. Maya’s welcome to come any time.
February 29, 2012 at 11:14 am
I’d love to. But by the look of the landscape, I’d say you’re pretty far away. :0( We’re in Kansas. We have Clinton lake nearby but I don’t like the place for swimming where a dog can be off leash. It has some dangerous drops. Plus, they sometimes let the dam open which causes dangerous rushing water. When I want to take her swimming, I usually take her to the dog park in Shawnee Mission Park.
February 29, 2012 at 11:18 am
Dawn, that’s pretty cool having swimming in a dog park. We’re in Northern Arizona. The place we went is far enough from any towns that there are no leash laws and lots of people hike there with their dogs.
February 29, 2012 at 11:30 am
Yes, the dog park at Shawnee Mission is pretty awesome. If we could add agility equipment in the park it would be perfect! I would have the calmest Labrador in the world after she’s done with all that. :0)
Arizona is really beautiful. I had a dog named Smokey years ago and just him and I went to visit. There were places in Sedona where we had gone and he could be off leash. And there were lots of great swimming holes too. Maybe someday I can take Maya.
February 29, 2012 at 11:42 am
Dawn, Sedona is where we live. We have lots of posts from the trails near our house. There is a leash law now although many people don’t pay attention. My person makes me stay on a leash because she says I have a habit of running off. She doesn’t take me to the creek here because you have to pay to park at all the best swimming holes and we have our trails so close by.
