No Dog Day?

09 Mar

Bongo and his FriendsWoo hoo! It was an awesome day on my trails today. The weather was perfect and the parking lot full – which meant I had a chance to meet lots of people and dogs. We headed out on the trails and met a whole lot of people coming back the other way, but no dogs. I like people, but I really like meeting dogs on my trails, so I started getting a little disappointed thinking this might be a no dog day.

Well, I was wrong – so wrong. We headed a little further along the trails and guess who showed up to greet me. You’ll never guess. The best dog ever! Lucy. My girlfriend – at least I want her to be my girlfriend. And we got to play. That is the most fun a dog can have. Playing with his girlfriend – except maybe for swimming, and eating, and catching Frisbees. Well, you know what I mean. I had fun.

Lucy headed on down the trails and I started feeling disappointed, but I hardly had a chance to feel that way because two more dogs came running to greet me. And my person knows their people, so now I have two new friends.

I would have made more friends but the other dogs were on leashes and our people wouldn’t let us get close. My person had to give directions to one person who had a dog. I could give directions to that person too. Just let your dog’s leash loose and follow along.

Aww, man you are so lucky Bongo. You got an adventure & I didn’t cause Mom’s got to stay and wait for some package or something which I don’t get cause I get packages for her all the time… well sometimes the box gets a little shredded but how else are you gonna find out what’s inside? So I don’t get an adventure today but one time on my trail that’s got a pond I scored a whole pizza box! It even had cheese all melted on the bottom. Mom says pigs left it but I didn’t smell any pigs around. Whoooeee… you can smell if pigs have been around. I wish we could go on an adventure Your blog friend, Lola.

Lola, it would be great to go on an adventure with you. Finding a pizza box with cheese in it sounds awesome. I’ve found some interesting things on my trails but never anything like that.

It sure sounds like you had a great time! I haven’t met a single dog since we arrived at the house two days ago. Sometimes me and the neighbor dogs talk from each side of our wall, but we haven’t met yet. I miss meeting new and old friends on walks. We’re heading out for a walk now, so as always I am optimistic and hopeful of meeting friends 🙂

Good advice, Bongo. Cowboys here say “If your horse doesn’t want to go that way, then you shouldn’t either!” Glad you had a great day! Things always go better with friends

Jet, Lucy is a dream but she says she doesn’t have a phone so I just have to wait until we’re on the trails at the same time. Oh, the life of a dog.

Wow! You have a girlfriend Bongo! Cool! and I’m glad that you met two ther dogs on your trail! Were they nice, too?

    • Bongo

      March 10, 2012 at 10:50 am

Kevin, I’m not sure if Lucy thinks I’m her boyfriend, but we sure have fun playing together when we meet. Those other dogs were nice too. My person doesn’t always like me to meet other dogs because she says sometimes I’m not very friendly, but I got along with those dogs just fine.

Bongo what a great day! Beautiful weather, a trail walk, meeting people and new friends and getting to see your “girlfriend”. If there were a swim it would have been perfect, but we have to save something for another day. We’ll have a swim on another walk.

Tylers, I sure wish my trails had a swimming hole, but except for that they’re perfect – especially when I find my friends on them.
