Hey person, where are we going? This isn’t the way we usually go.
You want to what? Take a picture of those things? What did you say they were?
You mean Indians used those to paint with? They don’t look anything like the paintbrushes you use.
What? They’re called Indian Paintbrush, but Indians don’t really paint with them? That doesn’t make sense. Why would they do that?
Wait a minute. You’re trying to distract me, aren’t you? You’re trying to make me forget that open suitcase I saw.
Where are you going, person? Do I have to go to the Dog Hotel? Are you going to take me with you this time?
What? You’re going to Indiana? Are you going to paint while you’re there? You need to take some of these flowers if you do.
You know why. These are Indiana Paintbrushes. I bet you could make some really pretty pictures with them.

Bongo, I hate it too when my mom brings out a suitcase. But I’ve never stayed at a dog hotel, just with my cousins or grandmother. Is it fun at the dog hotel?
Bongo

Fenris, I don’t really like the dog hotel but I don’t have to go there this time. It turns out my younger person isn’t going anywhere all week so I get to stay home with him.

Just don’t do what my friend’s cat does, Bongo, and pee in the suitcase! He knows how to express his displeasure about her imminent departures!

I’m glad you’re not going to any dog hotels Bongo.
Guess what, the Chedster did a DOG TRICK this morning!!! He rolled over twice, when asked. He will probably deny it, but it really happened. 😉
I love Indian Paintbrushes, wonderful flower. A lot of them up here in Canada.
Happy Weekend, G

Chedster, you are one cool cat. I would love to come over and rub your tummy. Oops, did I say that about a cat? My person says she remembers Indian Paintbrush from when she lived in Seattle and is surprised it grows in such different climates.

I love Indian Paintbrushes! My grandmother had some little blue ones in her backyard garden for awhile, but then she got a moonflower plant that kind of took over that patch.

That Indian Paintbrushes are beautiful! My mom’s sister(my auntie) learns traditional japanese flower arrangement (called “Ikebana”) and we have several flowers in our house but never seen this flower! When mom checked the name, it also says that it’s a state flower of “Wyoming” in US, is that true? Are there many Indian Paintbrushes in Wyoming? In US, each states has their own flowers? By the way, I’m glad that this time, you don’t have to stay at Dog Hotel! 🙂 Horray your younger person! 🙂
Bongo
March 11, 2012 at 4:43 pm
Kevin, my person says the Indian Paintbrush must grow all over the Western United States. She remembers seeing them when she lived in Washington state. Most, if not all of the states have their own state flower. Wyoming must have a lot of Indian Paintbrushes if that is their state flower. My person has only spent a little time in Wyoming so she doesn’t know. The state flower for Arizona is the blossom of the saguaro cactus. The flower is white and very pretty. I’m sure you’ve seen pictures of that cactus. They are very majestic and the only place in the world they grow is the Sonoran Desert, which covers part of Arizona and into part of Mexico.

Thanks for lots of info about flowers, Bongo! Yes I’ve seen pics of the saguaro cactus and I know how the flower looks like! They are sooo pretty! We have a few cactus pots in our tiny garden, and two of them are named ” Harry” and “Ron” from Harry Potter book 🙂 but it’s a bit difficult to raise them well….because of the climate?
Bongo
March 12, 2012 at 5:12 pm
Kevin, that’s funny that your cacti are named Harry and Ron. I would think that would make them last better in your climate because it gets cold in England where Harry and Ron live. My person says only a few kinds of cactus do well where we live because we are at a high elevation and it gets cold here sometimes.

Angel’s Whisper, Indian Paintbrush is beautiful. I didn’t know they made remedies with it, but the Indians who lived here before my person’s kind of people came used plants for lots of things.
