Training Session

24 Mar

Bongo looking for the stashMy person has been making a lot of mistakes lately and I think she’s due for some retraining, so this is a training session for my person. All of you people out there who walk your dogs might want to listen up too. And if you don’t walk your dog, or you don’t have a dog to walk you need to start with a different training session. I’ll get to that one in awhile.

Hey person, I’ve got to lay down some rules here. I know you have to hang on to the end of my leash so you don’t get lost or run off, but there are a few times you need to let go.

For instance, today when that bunny came running across the trail. If you had let go of my leash your arm wouldn’t have been yanked so hard. You know it’s going to be sore tomorrow.

And if you had let go of my leash I would have been able to chase that bunny. You know it’s getting close to Easter. That bunny is probably gathering up a stash of brightly colored eggs somewhere. I might have been able to follow that bunny to the stash.

You know that would have helped you out, person. You’ve got an Easter egg hunt coming up. Where do you think you’re going to get the eggs for it?

I hope you’re thinking about what I’ve just told you. Next time we see a bunny, let go of my leash.

oh dear, your person now has one short arm and one long arm…but don’t worry she’s ‘armless!

I have 3 big dogs , 2 smaller dogs and now two tiddlers. Last time I tried to take them for a walk I was tied up with leashes and I was in the middle of the road. I reckon it’s a two man job!

Pity about the bunny. There is a song about that..Run,rabbit, run rabbit run run run…… do you know it? Better luck next time…but I am very sorry about person’s longer arm

Patrecia, my person does look kind of funny with two different length arms. At least she doesn’t have to worry about being tangled up – except when I meet a friend on my trails. We don’t know that song about the rabbit, but I hope next time someone sings it my person will let me run after it.

@Rumpydog – BWAHAHAHA! Yes, never forget killer rabbits; frankly, when I hear my free roam Beagle sound off on a bunny trail, if I see that bunny, I yell “Run, bunny, run!” So, Bongo, you’re saying I shouldn’t do that? Oh, dear – what’s a poorly trained person to do?

I’m going to have to agree with Rumpy here- those rabbits can be pretty scary! I bet this bunny would have been nicer though, you were only trying to help your person gather those eggs after all! No one ever complains about a helpful pal, right? Sounds like you’ve got some training homework to do with her!

Anastasia, my person tells me never to chase a coyote because it might lead me to the pack and then they’d all turn against me. I hope bunnies don’t do the same thing. I guess they don’t need to protect their eggs though because they’re planning to give them away anyway.

Monica, you’re confusing me. I think it would be good for me to chase a bunny. Maybe you’d better put Henry back on.

Do you have bunnies around your trail Bongo? The wild bunnies??? Wow….cool!!!!!!
Bunny is gathering easter eggs??? That’s why always bunnies are there for easter stuff???

      March 25, 2012 at 1:15 pm

Kevin, we have lots of wild bunnies here but we don’t see them very often. They usually hide in their dens during the day and come out in the early morning and at twilight to eat. We have a tradition here that the Easter Bunny brings Easter eggs for the children. He usually comes and hides the eggs at night so when the children wake up on Easter morning they get to have an Easter egg hunt. The bunny and eggs represent spring and new life, but aren’t really related to the Easter story of Jesus’ resurrection. They came about separately and were attached to that holiday.

Bongo, that’s a lot of eggs that bunny left behind. I’m sure he will come back before easter to hide more eggs, but I’m not so sure if he would if your person had let go of your leash 😀

Angels Whisper, I guess that bunny would look for another place to stash the eggs if I chased him and found them.

Brown Dawgs, I’m so glad you agree. Now we just have to convince our humans. They can be slow learners.

Oh, no Bongo… first the leg, now the arm! You have to take care of your person, take it easy on that leash. You wouldn’t want excuses for shorter walks, would you?! The superior Bongo knows how to handle things!

      March 26, 2012 at 1:56 pm

Marina, maybe I have been kind of hard on my person lately. I didn’t really hurt her arm though when I tried to chase that bunny. I just yanked it a little bit.
