Some of Jesus’ disciples went fishing after he was resurrected? Why didn’t they take me? I like fish.

Oh, they didn’t? They fished all night and didn’t catch anything? I guess I’m glad I wasn’t with them after all. Were they sleeping in the boat?

I’m listening, person. I didn’t fall asleep. Really. I just think those disciples must have fallen asleep. They must have been really hungry when they woke up. They didn’t have any fish to eat. What did they do?

They what? They saw a man on the shore and he asked them if they didn’t have any fish? I bet he saw them sleeping in the boat.

Okay person, I’ll listen.

When the disciples told the man they didn’t have any he told them to throw their net on the right side of the boat and they would find some. They did and they got so many fish they couldn’t haul in the net. I don’t get it, person. Do fish only swim on the right side of the boat? I’ll have to remember that if I ever get to go fishing.

Oh, I forgot. Okay, I’m listening now. One of the disciples, John, recognized Jesus then and Peter got so excited he jumped out of the boat and swam to shore. I’d be jumping out with Peter. That sounds like fun.

Jesus had breakfast ready for those hungry fishermen. He’d cooked some fish and had some bread. I hope they saved some for me.

Oh yeah, they had all those fish in the net. They counted them and there were 153. Wow, that’s a lot of fish. I wonder if they’d notice if one was missing.

Okay person, I promise I won’t steal any fish. But I think they have more than they need.

After the disciples finished breakfast Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him. When Peter said yes Jesus told him to take care of his sheep and then he told him to feed his sheep.

I wonder what Peter is going to feed those sheep with. I don’t think they eat fish.

Rumpy, my person says Peter’s sheep were people so maybe he did give them fish. I don’t get it. How can sheep be people?

Thanks Collies. Peter certainly did have a huge responsibility – but I have to disagree with Ginger on this one. I’d rather have my fish in one piece than have to run all over the beach gobbling up little bits here and there. God Bless

Awayinthemanger, my friend Ginger gets a little carried away sometimes – but most of the time she has some great mischievous ideas. God Bless you too.

I think your mouth watered of all the fish, Bongo, and I am sure they would give you a fish if you were in the story. Lovely story 🙂

Alfie, we’d make a great team. You herd the sheep and I’ll eat the fish.

Hawk, maybe we should both head over and get some fish. I can’t promise to stay out of mischief though.

Hmmm…Bongo, I don’t get it…..Jesus has several disciples, doesn’t he? Why he told Peter to take care of his sheep and feed them? Why not to the other disciples? Besides, if Jesus was resurrected, why he takes care of his sheep by himself? Woof?

Kevin, Jesus could do everything himself, but he chooses to do most of his work through people. Probably because it blesses the people who do his work just as much or more as it blesses the people they are helping. At the time of this story Peter was still pretty upset that he had denied Jesus three times after Jesus was arrested. When Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him, it made Peter stop and think how much he really did love Jesus. Peter then went on to become one of the main leaders of the early church.

Thanks so much for telling me more details of the story, Bongo! Now I understood why Jesus asked Peter if he loved him three times and told him to his work. I enjoyed the story so much, Bongo! Always very intereting! 🙂

    Hey Bongo,

I bet they wish they’d tried fishing on the right side a lot early and they could have got some sleep!! Tee Hee

I went fishing once and they caught precisely nothing!! It wasn’t very exciting, I was so bored I just played with a twig, so I don’t think you’re missing anything buddy 🙂

    Hope you’re having a fun day 🙂

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Snoopy, I guess the only fun of fishing would be catching fish so you can eat them. I wouldn’t want to go fishing either if nobody was going to catch any for me.

How lucky those fisherman were that he was on shore!

Bassetmomma, those fisherman were really lucky to find Jesus there. Not only did they catch a lot of fish, but they got breakfast. My person says Jesus put them all to work after that though. I guess that would be okay if they got paid in fish.
