Fenced Out

04 Jun

Water TankMy person and I went on an extra long walk on my trails today. We were looking for the elusive century plant. My person says they’re called that because they only bloom once a century, so they’re really hard to find.

But we walked along and walked along looking for those century plants and there it was.

Not a century plant, but an intruder on my trails. I’m not sure what it is, but I’m going to investigate.

.

Bongo in front of the water tank

This thing is pretty nervy. It must think it owns part of my trails. I tried getting up closer to take a better look, but there was a fence around it. I checked to see if I could find a way to get inside the fence.

I didn’t see any way in.

Bongo at the Fence

So I went over to the other side.

Bongo Looking Through the Fence

I didn’t have any luck there either.

What am I to do? This thing should not be on my trails – especially not with a fence around it.

If I could get to it, it wouldn’t be so bad. At least I could mark it so everybody would know it was mine. I mean, everything on my trails is mine – after all, they are my trails.

So this thing doesn’t have the right to set itself on my trails and construct a fence. This will definitely need some further investigation.

And the worst part is that I got so distracted when this thing showed up that I forgot all about looking for the elusive century plant. I guess I’ll have to go find that another day.

Bassetmomma, I’m having trouble investigation that thing since I can’t find a way through the fence. But I’ll keep trying.

Goodness gracious me…whatever could it be! Do you think that it could be a space ship?

Patreciau, we’ve had some big fires here in Arizona and New Mexico is the next state over. It’s got a very big fire burning and we’re getting the smoke from it here. Check out this post about the smoke. https://bongodogblog.com/2012/06/02/smoke-screen/

Whatever that thing is, Bongo, you’d think they could have painted a mural on it to blend in with your gorgeous scenery. Maybe it’s a giant container of century plant seeds…

      June 4, 2012 at 2:35 pm

Lindy, that must be it – they’re hiding all the century plants in there. But you’re right about a mural. With all the artists who live in Sedona, somebody could have painted one on it.

Chancy and Mumsy, I’m still looking for that elusive century plant. Hugs and nose kisses back to you.

You’re so brave, Bongo. You’re my hero. I’ll keep an eye open for the century plant. Maybe it came to NJ.

Cupcake, if you see that century plant, could you send it back to Arizona where it belongs?

The Town or State had a lot of nerve putting that water tank on your trails like that!
And Then they fenced it IN….Whats wrong with them….Its YOUR trail, They should have asked you FIRST…Woof – Woof and Woof!

Penny, I might have to go to City Hall and give them what for. They need to know who they have to get permission from if they want to put anything on my trails.

Indianapolis Dog Trainer, I’m going to give that thing what for for not asking me – right after I tear down the fence.

Luna, it’s the bloom of an agave. When I find that elusive thing I’ll post a bunch of pictures.

Well, Bongo, at least it is green and not orange or purple or some neon color. Is it a water tower? Our water towers are really tall standing on long legs and can be seen for miles.

      June 4, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Patricia, my person says it is a water tower, but I’m not sure I believe her. She says all the water towers in Sedona look like this but they’re not all green. Some are painted to blend in with the red rock color.

Hmphs. Bongo, i don’t like this thing that’s trying to own your trail! It seems smart trying to blend into its surroundings, but you still saw through their sneaky moves, that makes you cooler and smarter! Yay!

Oh yes Bongo, did you know that Mom and I passed an award on to you just the other day? :} It’s over here:

You are an awesome detective, Bongo! Don’t give up on your case! And by the way, I am jealous of your person’s ability to walk you and take pictures at the same time…it’s an art form I have yet to perfect! 😉

Jessica, I get to sniff more stuff when my person takes pictures. That’s the only way she gets away with it.

It’s pretty sad they have to put a fence around a bunch of water.

      June 4, 2012 at 7:40 pm

Rumpy, I wonder if they think that fence is going to stop any leaks.

that is interesting! Ginger says mark it anyways…. get a bag… fill it with marking liquid and have your person throw it over the fence onto the side of it.. everyone will know it is yours!

Ginger, you’ve always got the greatest ideas. My person says if I try to do that though, she’s going to drag me away. I’m not sure why. I was all ready to do it.

Oh we have seen those before, Bongo! They should make it look pretty at least. But you made us laugh cuz you were soo close to that century plant. Before we moved to WA, we use to live in Arizona and the mamas are both from New Mexico. So mamas have schooled us well on plants. BOL! Hope you had a great Monday! :0)

Weinerful Gang, this is too funny because my person grew up in Washington and now lives in Arizona. But where did you see the century plant? I didn’t see one. I’m still looking for it.

Bongo, I don’t know, I have my doubts about this waterthing. Are you sure it has nothing to do with something out of space 🙂

    • Bongo

      June 5, 2012 at 12:03 am

Angels Whisper, it’s kind of like that pink one – only bigger. Maybe they use this to store bigger spaceships in. That would explain why they put a fence around it. They don’t want anyone to get near and see those ships.

This looks strange, Bongo. I wonder what it’s there for… but then, I know you’ll suss it out!

      June 5, 2012 at 11:08 am

Marina, I’m still trying to figure out this thing myself. My person said something about putting water in it, but nobody can drink that much water.

Hmmmm…it looks huge Bongo….whatever it is, you shouldn’t forgive it being on your trails without permission!!! Besides the fence has a barbwire, doesn’t it? very dangerous and scary! Yes Bongo, you should investigate it more!!!

    • Bongo

      June 5, 2012 at 11:10 am

Kevin, I would put in a complaint to have that thing removed, but since it’s on my trails I would have to complain to myself. A dog just can’t win.

We can’t believe they put that big thing right in the middle of your trail Bongo. It’s huge and has that mean looking fence that looks a little dangerous. The least they could have done is paint some of the red rock on there and make it blend in with the beautiful scenery. We are really glad that is not near your trail to the swimming hole!

    • Bongo

      June 5, 2012 at 11:12 pm

Lexie and Mica, my person says that thing used to be painted a pinkish color to blend with the red rocks and then they painted it green to blend with the trees. Whatever it is, it can get up and leave any time. I haven’t seen any strange things on my trail to the swimming hole – speaking of that, I think it’s time my people took me back there.

Dianda, you can be sure I’ll be investigating this further. Unless of course, it moves away first.

Bassa, no kidding. And that fence is the worst part. If I could at least leave my mark …
