Broke My Leash

19 Jun

Bongo and his leashWhat do you mean I don’t get to go for a walk? You and my younger person left me home alone all day and now I don’t even get a walk?

What does that matter? Just because I broke my leash when I ran off yesterday and got it tangled around a bush I don’t get to go for a walk? You don’t need a leash, person. I can take you for a walk without a leash.

Why didn’t you get me a new leash then? My younger person got all those big metal things and little metal things today. You could have at least gotten me a leash too.

They don’t sell leashes at the metal thingy store? I thought they had stores that sold everything.

Well, tomorrow you’d better go to the leash store person, because if you don’t bring home a leash that works I’m definitely not taking you for a walk.

I do hope that you were not a naughty boy Bongo and strained so hard on your leash that it broke. I see that it is one of those that extends and they do get a lot of wear and tear so maybe it was not your fault…
Tall person will get you another one tomorrow I am sure

Patreciau, it was a really old leash – the one my person bought when she first got me. So I’m not taking any of the blame – but my person and I are having a disagreement on this. She did get me another leash though.

well that is okay..just as long as you can get out on your trails.
I think that maybe you are two/three years old so the leash has lasted well. I do hope that you will enjoy having your new one. Is it the same model or have you upgraded?

Patreciau, my person got me another retractable leash, but it’s a little different than the old one.

One thing I know for sure is Metal Things are NOT more important than leashes and walking around together. I hope your people can get their priorities straight, Bongo.

Cupcake, sometimes people seem to get their priorities mixed up, don’t they? My person did get me a new leash though so I can go on walks again.

When Apollo was a hefty 30lbs puppy, he snapped his flexi leash on the first day when he bolted. I promptly returned it.

Nowadays, I DIY his leashes – I get a few feet of a nylon rope from the hardware store whenever the current version gets too worn or dirty and just reuse the snap. $1.50 for 10 feet and a couple figure-eight-on-a-bight knots. Easy and cheap. Not pretty, but it works.

Coffee Zombie, I just stretched my leash out so much that it won’t retract anymore – but it was a really old leash. I think it was just worn out. At least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Thanks for commenting.

Collies, it’s really the pits when I have to miss my walk – but my person did finally get me a new leash.

Oh, poor, sweet Bongo we hope you get a new leash real soon and get to go for a nice long walk. We have to get our nice picture fix and hear all about your adventures so tell your mom to get on with getting that new leash. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, my person did get me a new leash. But most of the flowers on my trails are gone now, so I’m not having to wait around for my person to take pictures as much.

Bongo, I’m glad you got a new leash. Don’t feel too bad about the old one. Over the years, every dog I ever had, since those retractable leashes came on the scene, went through at least one, usually two. Enjoy your walk! 😀

Nanina, I think that leash was just old and worn out. And besides it kept following me around when I was running without my person on the trails. I had to give it what for.

We are sorry your leash is broken and you cannot take a walk. No matter who’s fault it is going without a walk is very disappointing. Lexie has broken two in the last few months, one was just not strong enough so that was our fault. She was very unhappy that she had to wait for another day to get a walk. She has a much stronger one now and we are very happy to read that you have a new leash and are back to walks.

Lexie and Mica, it really is awful when you have to miss walks. I’m glad my person didn’t wait too long to get me another leash.

I’m sure that your leash is very important as well as your younger person’s metal things!!!!!
I wonder why young people love metal things??? Are they a part of fashion? Then, leash is also a part of doggie fashion! Woof! 🙂

Kevin, my younger person loves those metal things but the only reason he got so many right now is because he has to use them in the school he is starting in a couple months. I’m not sure, but I think they must call it a metal thing school.

Oh, No! Maybe your person could try a different kind of leash. [we also had problems with this type]. Maybe you could make a leash by connecting your young person’s metal things together, …no?

    • Bongo

      June 20, 2012 at 12:18 am

Marina, I think I could do something with my younger person’s metal things but he would get really mad at me. My leash was really old, so I think it was time to get a new one anyway.

Glad to hear you got a new leash so you can take your humans out again- without one my humans would wander off and get lost! Sounds like your humans need some more lessons in walking to heel so they don’t break the leash again BOL 😀

Misaki, humans can be so unpredictable at times, can’t they? Us dogs really have to keep them under tight reign.

Bongo, I see you have a collar on right? Well, quick, go run and find some string or rope and tell your person there is noooo excuse now. Attach at collar and go for your walk. 🙂 (you think dental floss would work, Bongo??)

      June 20, 2012 at 3:27 pm

Sunshine, why didn’t I think of that? We have string and all kinds of things like that around here. Even some sewing thread. My person got me a new leash though. I guess she might have broken that other stuff.

    Hey Bongo, Jet here.

As you know, my leash broke 2 weeks ago… Dude, do you think there is a conspiracy? Mom ordered a cool leash she’s going to tell you about soon. So far, so good… (and, here’s a scoop… it has my name on it!)
