Nurse Bongo

15 Nov

Bongo Kissing his Person's AnkleI was so bummed yesterday. My person had twisted her ankle the day before and she was limping, and moaning, and saying it hurt really bad.

So yesterday morning she said I wasn’t going to get my walk.

What do you mean I’m not getting my walk? I always get my walk.

Not only that, but my person said I had to take care of her.

Well, I take care of her by barking if a stranger comes into the yard, or by keeping Scratchy out of her room so he won’t bother her. But what does she mean – take care of her? Do I have to get a new hat now – a Nurse Dog hat?

I’ve never been Nurse Dog before, but I’ll do anything to get my walk. So I kissed my person’s ankle, and I guess I did a good job being Nurse Dog because my person felt so good she got up and left me – alone. Well, alone with Scratchy. She got in her car and left.

See if I ever put on a Nurse Dog hat again.

But then my person came back and said she felt good enough to take me for a walk. Woo woo!

I’m not sure why, but my person walked kind of slow. I didn’t mind though because it gave me extra time to get some good sniffs in.

But now I’m thinking, if my Nurse Dog skills got my person better that fast, maybe what I need isn’t a Nurse Dog hat at all. It’s something else.

What about Miracle Healer Dog hat? Come on over to my house. I’ll heal you pronto.

Wait a minute. I don’t need a hat for that at all. But I could do with a big tent in the yard.

Oh, Bongo!!!! You are such a kind dog! I bet if you keep doing that nursing, your person will be totally healed in no time! By the way, it would be a good idea to take it easy on her -no pulling! You tell her from me to get well soon!
    🙂

Marina, it was really hard not to pull today when I saw two pesky squirrels chasing each other up a tree. I really wanted to go up that tree after them.

I have a nurse hat (and dress), but they clearly are not working. Mom has a sore knee, and although I jump on it and crash into it and fall asleep on it, every day, it’s not better yet. My walks are short AND slow these days. I hope when she sees the doctor next week, he does better than I have done. Otherwise, she’ll be first in line at your healing tent!

    Love and licks,
    Cupcake

Cupcake, tell your mom to put peanut butter on her knee and have you lick it off for her. I guarantee her knee will be better in no time. My person says she’s praying that your mom’s knee is all better soon. By the way, I might want to borrow that nurse hat – but you can keep the dress.

Good plan, B. Peanut butter is a medicine she hasn’t tried, and I REALLY hope she does. Thanks for the prayers. xoxo

Wow Bongo, you’ll have people queuing up outside your tent at this rate. Good job!

Misaki, I might have to move my tent to a bigger place. And I’ll need lots of treats to keep me going.

Twisted ankles can hurt really bad. 😦 I hope your person feels better soon!

Thanks Dianda. My person says this healed much faster than times that she’s twisted her knee. That’s probably because she didn’t have me around then. She says it’s still a little stiff when she walks, but only a little.

I guess you need to lick her ankle more. 😉

Big, slurpy kisses Bongo – I broke Diane’s ankle one time (I really didn’t mean it, just excited dog stuff you know) & she had crutches. Well, I love sticks…all kinds of sticks & it was even more fun grabbing Diane’s ‘sticks’ when she tried to use them. I’m glad your person doesn’t need sticks because people get mad when you try to take them…Lola

Lola, why would Diane get mad when you grabbed her sticks? All sticks are for dogs to fetch, aren’t they? I’m kind of disappointed my person didn’t get any sticks, but at least I have my Frisbee.

Hey Jet, my person says thanks to you and JJ. She’s almost better now. She says it feels a little stiff when she walks – but it’s not bad at all.

Most welcome Miss Person. May we also recommend ice? Not direct to the skin, 20 min on, 20 min off for a bit. 🙂

FleaByte, we don’t have many of those big tents around here. I might have to come visit you for awhile.

Sorry to hear about your person’s bad ankle but relieved to hear that she had recovered enough to go walking with you.

Bassa, my person says she was amazed that her ankle started getting better as quickly as it did. I guess she underestimates my miraculous healing powers.

it is rumoured that dogs and cats have antibacterial tongues and are able to heal wounds. That sounds reasonable as when a dog has an injury it always licks it and then it heals…so there could be some truth in this idea…and you my wonderful Bongo are now The Great Healer

Ginger, I do my best. But my person put peanut butter on her ankle so I’m not sure if it was me or the peanut butter that made her better.
