Taking my Place

02 Feb

Nobody’s going to read my post today.

First, they’re going to be out looking for that pesky groundhog.

You know, the one who’s supposed to see his shadow so we actually get some winter before it turns spring.

What do you mean, we don’t have any groundhogs here?

That’s terrible! You mean we’re not going to get any snow?

Could somebody please send me some snow?

Anyway, after everybody finishes looking for that groundhog – that they’re not going to find if they live near me – they’re going inside to watch the Super Bowl.

And after that they’ll remember all the things they should have been doing and nobody’s going to read my blog.

Wait! What?

You said two of Jesus’ disciples want to be on each side of Him?

Jesus will have trouble passing any fish to me then.

I’d better do something about this.

Yes, I’m listening to the story.

***

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

“What do you want me to do for you?” He asked.

They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”

***

I’m sure Jesus would rather have a dog by His side.

I am listening.

***

“You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”

***

There’s just water in that cup, right?

And baptism, isn’t that kind of like going swimming?

I’m all in!

***

“We can,” they answered.

Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”

***

See, I knew it!

I’m sure there’s a spot right next to Jesus prepared for a dog.

I’m listening! Do you think I’d know what to say if I wasn’t listening?

***

When the ten heard about this,…

***

The ten and the dog – that’s me.

***

…they became indignant with James and John. Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.”

***

What!? I have to be a servant and a slave?

There must be some other way.

That’s too hard.

***

Jesus continued, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

***

Okay, if Jesus can do it I guess I can too.

Hey person, here’s your slippers.

I did not take them off your feet so I could give them to you!

Bongo, I love to read your post. And you know I missed the Ground hog but I am not going to watch the Super Bowl. I am going to watch THE PUPPY BOWL. Oh and BTW, the bowl is not the type with food.

Alex, now that I know about the Puppy Bowl maybe I can get my person to turn it on for me when she goes to her friend’s house to watch that other bowl. Just turn it off when it gets to Kitty Halftime. Well, Keyboard Cat is kind of cool.

Reading your post! Molly and the German are excited about the supper bowl (The German, having seen all the snow she ever cares to see, voted to stay here for games)
We are hiding shoes as they love to play keep-away…

We are here sweet Bongo. We don’t care anything about Groundhog Day, nor do we want to watch the Super Bowl. We did want to come read your post and your Sunday story though that we enjoy so much. You being such a good listener and asking such great questions makes the stories very interesting. Happy Sunday and you all have a wonderful week. We don’t have any snow or we would sure try to send you some. Hugs and nose kisses

i would send you some snow, Bongo, but really, not much fun to have when it melts everywhere plus it makes you all stinky because your fur gets damp and you know, the doggy odor, i mean, sweet doggy fragrance that gets emitted into the air.only a mommy dog could love that smell. 😛 just think, Sunday will be over soon and tomorrow, a brand new day for your adventures. 🙂

Sun, don’t you think they should bottle up that stinky smell and sell it? I bet there are lots of mommy dogs who would buy it. I would buy it and I’m not even a mommy dog. Off to more adventures.

I read your blog Bongo. And just remember you aren’t anyone’s slave. Just do good things for others because it’s the right thing to do and be a good dog.

Thanks Kimberly and Wall-E. I know good things are the right thing to do – but sometimes it sure is fun to get into mischief.

Lily, that groundhog saw his shadow in the morning and a little while later it got cloudy and it’s been cloudy and cold ever since. I’m still waiting for the snow – and we might even get some later this week. Woo woo!

Marina, I bet Jesus would love cuddling with me – because I’d give Him lots of slobbery kisses.

    Hey Bongo

I’m here reading your blog!! No snow here and the super bowl really wasn’t worth watching, and I’m too busy with squirrels to notice a groundhog! Haha

Am I right in thinking you just got some snow now?

    Send some here buddy,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Snoopy, I wish I had some snow to send you. Maybe if I get my person to take me up to Flagstaff I can find some. But I’m hoping the weather predictions are right because we may be getting some later this week. I’ll make sure I package some up and send it your way.
