Just a Memory

24 Apr

Bongo's head looking over the washI’m taking the memory trail today before I forget.

You see, we haven’t had rain in a very long time.

I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like.

It’s been so long that the county I live in has already posted fire restrictions.

They never post fire restrictions this early in the year.

Maybe somebody should tell them it’s only April.

So anyway, before I forget what rain is like, I thought I’d look back at some pictures my person took from the last time it rained.

She doesn’t make me wait around as much when she takes rain pictures like she does when she’s taking flower pictures, so I like the rain pictures better.

Bongo looking at wet red rocks

The rocks on my trails change color when it rains.

Rain must have some magical dye in it or something that goes away the same time the rain does.

Bongo on rocks with water flowing down

Water flows down the rocks on my trails when there’s rain.

It’s fun to splash in.

Red rocks covered in clouds

Sometimes the rain has giant erasers and it starts erasing the big rocks on my trails.

The rocks always come back eventually, so they must be magic erasers.

Bongo in his puddle

My puddle!

Oh puddle, I almost forgot about you.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen you.

Where are you hiding?

I’m not sure why my puddle only shows up when it rains.

Well puddle, I guess it will be awhile longer till I see you again because…

Bongo on the trail with red rocks and blue sky in the background

I’m really enjoying all this great weather we’re having.

Guess I’ll forget about the rain.

Your person’s pictures make the rain look pretty. Around here, the rain is ugly. And muddy. And wet. And pounding. And windy.

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, rain is pretty here. Maybe because we don’t get it very often so everybody is happy when it comes.

I was just going to mention your puddle! Do you remember when it kept disappearing and then suddenly it would come back. I do hope that you will soon have a new BIG puddle that you can paddle and roll in. It sounds as though your county needsn a drop of the divine liquid. Have you tried rain dancing?

The sun is great here – except in the summer. Then it’s too hot. But we usually get rain then too.

We remember all those big puddles. Do you get lots of lightening there?

Lily & Edward, we get lots of lightning here in July and August. It’s the most horrible time of the year.

Only a poet could have described it so beautifully, Bongo. I love your ‘giant erasers’ – they truly are magic! Too bad about your puddle but at least you know you aren’t getting any thunder! 🙂

Thanks Marina. I guess you’re right about the thunder. I hope it never comes back.

Dalton, that would be great. More rain means more puddles to play in.

My friend Riley is coming and it is raining out I hope it stops so we can catch tad poles together

Fredrieka, you have tadpoles already? My puddle had tadpoles in it for the first time ever last summer. Then they all turned into little toads and they hopped away.

Dark clouds visit us for some weeks but then they become shy and do not give any raindrops to us. Has somebody terrified them?

Kolytyi, maybe we should give those clouds what for. They’ll drop their raindrops for sure then.
