Most of my adventures happen in a day, or a walk, or maybe even in a minute.
But this adventure took a long time to unfold.
Almost a month.
Because every time I walked by this place something had changed.
For some reason people like to stack rocks on my trails.
Sometimes when I go for a walk I’ll find that a new stack has appeared.
And sometimes it’s gone again the next day.
.***
But one particular stack started out small.
And then it grew.
And a few days later…
It grew again.
So I started getting excited to see what would happen each time I walked by.
How big would this stack get?
So the next time I walked by that way…
Wait a minute.
There’s something wrong with this picture.
I’m not very good at counting, but aren’t there supposed to be more rocks on this stack, not less?

Thanks Marty. I’ve had to miss a few walks because the thunder’s been hanging out on my trails lately. Nasty, nasty thunder. I don’t like it at all.

Marty, you can have all my thunder but I think I’ll get in trouble if I send the rain. We are finally getting some after being very dry for months.

probably humans come out and play games so there are rocks on your trail. If there on your trail everyday then there are probably a group of humans out and they do games.

Tula, I think the people around here play really strange games with those rocks.

Maybe Humans are playing some pretty weird tricks on you these days. Put on your thinking cap and get some really great ideas to trick those Humans back.

Well you don’t have to know your numbers to know when the stack got smaller Bongo … An astute observation of course my friend. We drive by a house on a corner and someone keeps making creative rock stacks so maybe our rock stacker and your rock stacker are in communication somehow. Hey, many there are colonies of rock stackers all over!

Diane and Lola, I think there might be a rock stacker conspiracy.

Kevin, I’m more concerned that whoever took those rocks away might try to take me away too. I mean, maybe it’s an alien spaceship with a tractor beam.

Puzzling, isn’t it? Have you considered watering them to see whether the …entities will be discouraged from playing with those rocks?! 🙂
