Horses at Church

13 Mar

Painting of Horses on the ReservationMore horses person? Don’t you ever do paintings of dogs? What about painting one of me? I’m famous you know.

What? You’re no good at drawing dogs? Well, you’d better get some practice in person. I want a dog picture.

Okay, I’ll tell them about this picture. My person goes to this place where the horses are and leaves me behind. Usually I have to stay home with my younger person. I wish she’d take me along.

But person, you said there are horses and cows and lots of dogs running around where you go. Why can’t I go running around with all those dogs? I know those dogs would like me.

What? I wouldn’t be allowed to sleep inside with you? And you’re afraid I’d run after the coyotes? Coyotes are dogs, aren’t they? So what’s wrong with running after them?

Okay person, I’ll tell them where you go. These horses were outside of a church that my person sometimes visits to help the people out. She says that most of the time there are more animals around that church than people. It’s out in the middle of nowhere on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona.

Hey, we live in Northern Arizona, person. Are we in the middle of nowhere?

My person says this church is way more isolated than we are. There are lots of dirt roads that you have to drive on to get there and there are no street signs so you have to go with someone who knows the way. At the church there is no running water and you have to go about a mile away to get it. The horses and cows go there to drink too. Can I go there to drink, person? What about those dogs? Do they drink there?

My person says the church has no electricity either and they have to use a generator. But she says what they do have are some great people and lots of them have become her friends.

Okay, there’s something I don’t get though. My person didn’t go there this week, but she says she is with some people who have been there with her. Okay person – who are you really with? And what are you doing? If you can’t come straight with me you’d better come home.

I’m with you Bongo. I think your person should take you everywhere. That’s what I think my mom should do with me. She almost does, but sometimes I’ll get left behind 😦 It sounds like a fun place where your mom goes, with lots of dogs and open spaces to run. Maybe you can even help her out, helping those people? I’m sure you’d do a good job, Bongo 🙂

Fenris, I’m thinking my person should take me too. She keeps telling me I’d probably run after the coyotes. I don’t see what’s wrong with that. Aren’t they just other dogs?

Viciously Sweet, I had to give my person credit or she wouldn’t help me with my blog while she was gone. If you look really close I think you can see my paw prints in it.

I’m feeling for ya Bongo . . . sad times for sure. Well, chin up! Why not stir up some fun with yer ol’ bud, Scratchy. I’m sure both of you have loads of ideas rolling around in yer smart brain. 🙂

Sunshine, I tried wrestling with Scratchy the other day and he didn’t want anything to do with it. I’ll have to think of something that he wants to do too.

Bongo, I think your person is able to draw a dog, especially you, but you have to sit very still like the other time when you were frozen, remember? Maby you can practice untill she’s back 🙂

Angels Whisper, I can stay very still when I’m asleep. I’ve been practicing that.

I like this even more than the previous one. Bongo, you have to start painting you know! Take lessons from your person! [a little secret about painting: you can paint anything you want!]

Marina, I’ve been trying to get my person to let me use her paints. I think it would be lots of fun to stick my paws in things.

I think that the church is in a very peaceful place. Although it sounds inconvenient location, it also seems to be relaxing atmosphere. I love the picture, too! The colours are lovely! Me too, I’d love to go there and play with horses and the other dogs!!! ( not with coyotes….) 🙂

Kevin, my person says it is very peaceful there. We would have so much fun if we went there. I can’t figure out what’s wrong with coyotes but my person says they’re not good to be around.

She’s probably on a mission Bongo and I’ll bet as soon as she’s figured out a way to take you to a Senior Center or nursing home, you’ll be on a mission too.

Sandra, that would be good. I’d love to go on a mission. It must be kind of like an adventure.

Something is not right here sweet Bongo, we have always heard that anyone who can draw a horse can draw anything…so you should keep encouraging your person to draw dogs. Bless your person for going to help on the reservation. Hugs and nose kisses

Thanks Chancy and Mumsy. I’m going to keep on my person until she learns to draw me.

Deanna, I know I would have tons of fun if I got to go there, but for some reason my person says she won’t let me.

I really think the painting is beautiful Bongo. It might be in the middle of nowhere but it’s sure pretty!

I think that’s very sweet of your person to go to the church to help people out. I know it can be tough sometimes being without your person, but just think of all the fun you two have whenever you’re together! 🙂

Thanks Wordswithpurpose. I really don’t like it when my person leaves me. I guess I’ll have to make her take me on extra adventures when she’s home.

I like the horse painting. I like the idea that horses are at a church. But to be honest, I think that alot of Native American beliefs are closer to God than many Christian ones.

Thanks Rumpy. There are definitely many Native Americans who are closer to the land than many Christians.
