Dog Hotel Paintings – Day 6

Day six at the dog hotel and another photo turned into a painting.

Bongo photo made to look like a watercolor

This is the only kind of painting my person really does. Here I am in watercolor. But she didn’t really paint me. She just had a little fun on the computer.

P.S. I finally made it home from the dog hotel, but I’m resting up from my vacation before I go on some more adventures. I came home and found out there’s been some real mischief going on here though. Just wait till I get to the bottom of this.

Dog Hotel Paintings – Day 1

Bongo behind barsDo you believe it?

I got all excited when my person told me to get in the car this morning.

I should have suspected something when I saw the suitcases.

I was hoping to end up somewhere adventurous and fun – but here I am at the dog hotel.

And I can’t even tell you about my adventures here, because if my person finds out that I have fun sometimes she might make me stay longer.

.

And I don’t like it here that much.

So here’s the deal.

A couple weeks ago my person went to a camera meeting and they had a drawing for some photo programs.

And my person won!

She won a program called Snap Art that makes photos look like paintings or drawings.

So you get to see me in art all week.

It looks like my person spent hours with her brushes, but she really only spent a few minutes on the computer.

So here’s the first one.

This is me in impasto (a technique where the paint is laid on thickly).

Where’s My Adventure?

Dirt road, mountains, and skyMy person took off on an adventure this morning and left me at home with Scratchy.

This is really getting bad. I’m supposed to be the one having adventures, not my person.

And definitely not her camera.

Backlit clouds

It will be a bright day for sure when my person finally gets tired of that camera and takes me on adventures instead.

Red rocks and sky

Finally my person came back home and took me out on my trails.

Bongo in the wash

I looked all over my trails for some kind of adventure.

No luck.

No adventures anywhere.

I think my person used up all the adventures of the day.

This guy we found on my trails didn’t look like he was having any adventures either.

He was just standing there painting the cactus.

Maybe we can go find an adventure together.

Plain Air

Tom Lynch painting plein airIt happened around this time last year too. Something about the air.

The air gets plain.

It doesn’t feel plain to me. Unless maybe that means there aren’t any storms in the air.

If that’s it I’ll go for plain air all the time.

There are some other people who must like plain air too, because they show up in Sedona just for the air at this time of year.

I find them on my trails doing strange things.

I thought my person took a long time getting pictures with her camera, but these people take forever.

They don’t even use a camera, they bring all their paints with them.

And when they finally get finished, they don’t even have to put a little card in their computer – their picture is already there.

Wait a minute. What, person?

What do you mean, it’s not plain air, it’s plein air?

What’s the difference. It sounds the same to me.

Plein air is when artists paint outside? Oh.

And I met an artist who is way more famous than me?

I’m a pretty famous dog. He must be really famous.

He has his own website, and it’s better than my blog? No way!

I need some votes here. Check out Tom Lynch’s website at http://www.tomlynch.com/ and tell me my blog is better.

I guess it really doesn’t matter anyway. What’s more important is that…

Art Show for Dogs

Bongo Watching an ArtistToday I found more of those people on my trails with the long things and the square things. You know, those paint brush things and canvases. My person says the people are artists with the Sedona Plein Air Festival and they’re in town all week.

Well this morning my person left me home and went to see all the artists painting at the Sedona Heritage Museum. She said it was a show for people, not dogs. I think she’s wrong and she should have taken me.

But three of those artists are pretty special because they came to my trails to do a show just for us dogs. They let my person hang around and watch, but I don’t think she would have been allowed if it wasn’t for me being there too.

I made two new dog friends and we got our own special show.

I’m not sure though if my new friends got tired, or they liked the lady artists better, or they just found the smells on the ground to be better than the art show.

I’m going for the smells. Maybe those artists could throw a little jackrabbit scent into their paintings.

Long Things and Square Things

Artists in the WoodsI see the strangest things on my trails sometimes, but today I found people doing strange things. Usually the people I see are busy walking on the trail, but these people weren’t. I’m not sure what they were doing, but I guess my person wanted to know too so we went over to investigate.

Sorry person, you cannot share my Detective Dog hat with me. That’s for me alone, even if you do help me with the investigation.

We wandered off the trail and went over to where these people were, and we found a bunch of guys mixing colors with long things and then wiping the long things onto some square things.

It didn’t make any sense to me but my person talked to them and found out the guys were part of the Sedona Plein Air Festival.

I’m not sure what that festival is, but I always thought we had pretty nice air here. I didn’t know it was plain. And why would people want to have a festival for plain air anyway?

We hung around for awhile and my person talked to the guys and looked at their square things with the color on them. I’m not sure what she was looking at. I think they had used up all their rags and those square things were all they had left to wipe stuff off on.

But then something happened and I decided that having a festival for our plain air wasn’t so bad after all.
