We had an uneventful walk on my trails today and I was really worried. I didn’t know what I was going to write about for my blog. No lost people on the trails, no strange objects, no nothing.
We were back at the trailhead, almost to the parking lot when we found him. He came running over to greet me and we had a great time playing. There was a family starting out on the trail and we thought he belonged to them, but they went on – and he didn’t.
Two more people headed to their car so he must belong to them. They got in their car – and he didn’t.
Oh, no. Does he belong to us? We’re the only ones left here.
My person and I went home and he followed us – right into the house. We had a great time playing. The only other dog friend I have that likes to play with me is my girlfriend Lucy.
I got so excited I dumped all the water out of my dish and turned the kitchen into a slip-n-slide, but when I wasn’t looking my person found out who my new friend is. His name is Houdini.
I’ve been called Houdini before – right after I jumped over the fence. I guess now I’ve finally met the real Houdini.

Glad you met a new friend on your trails AND you got a chance to play with him at home!!!
I do think its funny that scratchy did not lioke the idea…LOL..:-)
April 11, 2012 at 6:39 pm
Penny, now I know how to really get to Scratchy. I’ll have a dog party!

Bongo we love the action shots of you and Houdini! Its so fun to have friends over.
Bella and DiDi
P.S.- Does Houdini belong to you and your person?
April 11, 2012 at 6:40 pm
Bella and DiDi, Houdini lives on the next street over from us. My person called the number on his tag and his person came over and got him. It was a good thing because I was really getting worn out. Time for a nap.
April 11, 2012 at 12:08 pm
too cute. these photos made me smile. looks like you were having a whole lotta fun with your new pal. 😉
April 11, 2012 at 6:41 pm
Geraldine, Houdini and I had great fun.
April 11, 2012 at 12:33 pm
Bongo, you had so much fun with Houdini, your tongue escaped from your mouth and started practically running around on its own. Great shots, but where does Houdini live?
Love and licks,
April 11, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Cupcake, my tongue does have a life of its own sometimes. Fortunately Houdini had a phone number on his tag. My person called it and found out he lives in the next street over. His person came and picked him up – literally.
April 11, 2012 at 1:17 pm
Good for you Bongo…you mad a friend…He sounds really cool….Peace Jaz
April 11, 2012 at 6:43 pm
Jaz, it was great making a new friend. Most dogs I know just want to sniff. It was fun finding a dog who wanted to play.
April 11, 2012 at 1:26 pm
Looks like you two were having a great time!
April 11, 2012 at 6:43 pm
Jennifer, Houdini and I had an awesome time.
April 11, 2012 at 2:38 pm
Bongo, I take it from your story that Houdini is back with his human people? Really loved this story, just when you think you don’t have anything to write about here comes this amazing story. You are such a cute, adorable, amazing & so well behaved. Any other adjectives you think I should add? lol
April 11, 2012 at 6:44 pm
Thanks Tri. Houdini’s person came over and got him and took him home. But we got to play for awhile before she got here.
April 11, 2012 at 4:28 pm
Oh Dog! Did you find his humans Bongo? Thanks for being responsible and watching out for him.
April 11, 2012 at 6:46 pm
Rumpy, it was fun watching out for Houdini. His phone number was on his tag so my person called it. He lives on the next street over. Apparently some friends were visiting who didn’t know to watch out for him when they opened the gate.
April 11, 2012 at 6:09 pm
Houdini looks small enough to be a good escape artist. Watch out.
April 11, 2012 at 6:51 pm
Sandra, I’m hoping Houdini escapes again so we can play. I could maybe escape and go to his house, but my person knows my tricks now and it’s not so easy to escape any more.
April 11, 2012 at 6:56 pm
Good thing Houdini found you and your person and followed you home. Some other dog and his person might not have been so nice as to let him in the house and find his family. Maybe he will come see you again.
April 11, 2012 at 6:59 pm
Patricia, I’m hoping I get to play with Houdini again. We had a lot of fun. My person says she used to meet a lot of neighbors through me before she learned all my escaping tricks. She’s happy she can help another dog get back home.
April 11, 2012 at 7:01 pm
Hey Bongo, Jet here. You and your person are such kind creatures taking Houdini in for a play date.
April 11, 2012 at 7:04 pm
Hey Jet, I was so glad my person let Houdini in the house. We had great fun.
April 11, 2012 at 9:01 pm
April 11, 2012 at 9:01 pm
Bongo, he followed you home, can you keep him? 😉
April 11, 2012 at 9:10 pm
Jen, I wish I could keep him but my person called his person and she came and took him back home. Maybe he’ll escape and come over here again.
April 11, 2012 at 11:23 pm
What a cute little dog, Bongo. It’s great to see you both in action, but I feel a little sorry for Scratchy. Does Houdini also have some magical fingers.. paws like his namesake?
April 11, 2012 at 11:29 pm
Angels Whisper, I think Houdini is just good at escaping.
April 12, 2012 at 12:02 am
Wow, Bongo, it looks like Houdini managed to work you out! [still, great fun huh?!] So now you know where Houdini lives, maybe you can see each other and paly more…
April 12, 2012 at 5:32 pm
Marina, I hope I can play with Houdini again.
April 12, 2012 at 7:00 am
Ahaha…Scratchy is soo funny!!! I’m glad to see the pics that you and Houdini were having fun together!!! Both of you look crazy at playing!!! Lovely friendship!!! 🙂
April 12, 2012 at 5:34 pm
Kevin, Houdini wore me out but it was fun.
April 12, 2012 at 8:03 am
Bongo, Houdini was probably so grateful you and your person took care of him. Maybe he was looking for his people? Well, he found a friend – wonder if he’ll houdini escape and show up at your door again. (Not if Scratchy has anything to do with it!)
April 12, 2012 at 5:39 pm
Karen, I think Houdini was looking for someone to play with and he found me. I hope he comes back. (I don’t care what Scratchy thinks.)
April 12, 2012 at 9:46 am
Houdini is small!
April 12, 2012 at 5:41 pm
Dianda, Houdini is very small but he sure has a lot of energy.
April 12, 2012 at 3:45 pm
You are so lucky to have a friend over, Bongo! But I am glad that Houdini’s home was found!
April 12, 2012 at 5:47 pm
Maybe Houdini will run off to play with Wonderbutt next.
April 12, 2012 at 7:19 pm
Houdini sure is a little guy, but it looks like you guys had lots of fun together! I’m glad your human found his home. Scratchy sure had his nose out of joint didn’t he! heehee!
April 12, 2012 at 8:34 pm
Bassetmomma, I think Houdini is smaller than Scratchy. I wish Scratchy would play with me like that.
April 14, 2012 at 6:14 am
Ha ha. It’s been great catching up with your blog Bongo after a busy wee while! We hope Houdini found his way home. 🙂 The caption on Scratchy’s photo is perfect!
April 14, 2012 at 12:22 pm
Thanks Flo. My person has been busy too and is way behind on catching up with my friend’s blogs. Houdini had a tag with his phone number on it. My person called and Houdini’s person came and got him. He lives on the next street over from us.
April 14, 2012 at 3:44 pm
I’m glad Mom was able to find out where Houdini’s home is and that his people picked him up. But I’m really happy that you and Houdini got to play and have such a good time:)
April 14, 2012 at 5:06 pm
Lexie and Mica, Houdini and I had a great time playing. I hope he comes over to my house again.
April 16, 2012 at 1:18 pm
Good to make new friends… and help them get home. 😉
April 16, 2012 at 1:27 pm
eof737, it was great making friends with Houdini. I hope I get a chance to play with him again soon.
April 19, 2012 at 2:10 pm
poor Scratchy…maybe Bongo you can find a friend for Scratchy sometime.
April 19, 2012 at 4:22 pm
Sunshine, Scratchy’s kind of anti-social. I don’t think he’d want a friend – unless maybe if it’s a fish and he can eat it.
April 21, 2012 at 7:23 am
Glad that you met a new friend to play with! Scratchy reaction is so funny and cute! 🙂
April 21, 2012 at 1:52 pm
Nizam, it was great fun playing with Houdini. He’s even smaller than Scratchy, but Scratchy isn’t very sociable.
April 22, 2012 at 6:20 am
Yeah i can sense that! Haha! 🙂
