Ghost Cars

01 Nov

Empty Trailhead Parking LotYesterday was Halloween and there was not one car in the parking lot by my trails. This was absolutely not possible on a day like this. It was sunny and warm – the perfect kind of day. So I’m sure there were cars parked there – the kind you can’t see.

Ghost cars.

I was a little nervous going through that parking lot – but nothing happened.

I expected to see a lot of people on my trails on a day like this. Even ghost cars have to be driven there by someone.

Person in white on the trail

But I only saw one person – and she was all white. I think she might have been a ghost.

With all this going on I thought maybe I’d see Ghost Dog, but no such luck. He must have been invisible too.

And then, to top it off – there weren’t even any litterbugs visible. Ghost litterbugs could be really dangerous.

Empty where the litter bugs hang out

Litter could appear out of nowhere. Right before my eyes. Yikes! I’d better get out of here!

Finally, after all those ghosts and invisible things, I found someone that I could see.

Quail on a fence

But that quail must have thought it was invisible, because it let us get really close to it. That’s just not normal.

Misaki, it did kind of spook me a little. I’m glad it’s not Halloween anymore. There were real cars in the parking lot today.

Maybe the quail was as puzzled as you. Wonder where everybody was?

Patricia, I think maybe they were all getting their costumes on because my person says she found lots of people in costume later in one part of town.

Bongo that looks like a beautiful day to walk, maybe everyone thought it would be really busy and stayed home. The poor quail was waiting for the treats and didn’t get any 😦

Lexie and Mica, at least that quail didn’t give me any tricks for not getting treats.

I guess everyone was so into getting ready for Halloween that they forgot to go walking – and on such a lovely day – tut, tut.

That sounds spooky Bongo! Except the part about the quail. I mean, it is really weird, but I would also be very excited to get so close to a quail!

Remy, it was pretty cool getting that close to a quail. Usually the first we even know we’re near them is when they’re flying or running off in the opposite direction because they saw us first.

I think everyone was at your house looking for treats Bongo. I had to bark at a lot of kids ringing my doorbell here & they got treats. So I figured I’d bark for treats for me but that didn’t work for very long….Lola

Lola, nobody comes to my house anymore. All the kids go uptown where the tourist shops are because all the shops hand out candy. My person says it’s like a big party. I don’t know why she doesn’t take me.

Strange days make strange bedfellows..or hike fellows. That Quail looked a little lonely…maybe it was worried about ghosts, too?

Karen, maybe that’s why the quail didn’t fly off. It was more scared of ghosts back there than it was of me.

I’ll bet there were squirrels out there, Bongo. They weren’t invisible. The cheeky things never are. Not even on Halloween. Nice treat to spot a quail. It’s a pretty one.

Nanina, at least those squirrels weren’t hanging around in the trees being pesky. We got lucky with the quail. We see lots of them, but usually the first we know they’re around is when they hear us and start heading the opposite direction.

Collies, I probably should have tried that. I don’t think the ghosts around here are very brave.
