Feathers

07 Mar

Feathers on the groundAlright, what’s going on here? Some bird is dropping its feathers on my trail. This is not good. Not only is that bird littering up my trail, it’s missing a few feathers that it might need someday. I mean, birds need feathers to fly and it might need them to stay warm. We’ve got another storm coming our way.

I think I’d better get my Detective Dog hat and track down that bird so I can give it back its feathers.

That’s better. Now I’m ready to fly into this investigation.

Wait! No, I mean – what do I mean? Those feathers are too small for me. Besides I’m a dog. Dogs don’t fly. I’ve got to find out where this bird has flown off to.

many feathers on the ground

This is not good. My investigation has fluffed up more feathers. I’d better look around in these bushes. That bird can’t have gotten far without all its feathers.

Hmmm. No birds around here. Not even any telltale chirping sounds.

Methinks somebody has stolen that bird away. This is serious. This also complicates my investigation. It began with a few feathers littering my trail and now I’m looking for a birdnapper.

This could turn out to be dangerous.

But never fear, Detective Dog is here!

I always get my birdnapper.

Wait a minute. What if that bird got napped by a bear? Or a mountain lion?

Whatever it was, it scared the bejeebers out of that bird.

bird droppings and feathers

I’m heading home now. I’ll be back as soon as the reinforcements have finished my job.

LOL – love the evidence of the bird being scared!

I always hate it when I see feathers in the front yard like that – I always know that somewhere nearby is a mutilated dove or pigeon. 😦

Blueberry’s human, I suspect that somebody got a good meal out of this bird. I think the feathers were all they left behind. Kind of sad, huh?

oh my ..oh my… feathers everywhere and no bird in sight…do you think that a cat has had him for breakfast.

Patrecia, probably not a domestic cat on my trails. Maybe a bobcat.

Oh, it’s good to see you in your detective hat again!
It certainly looks like that poor bird got really really scared, doesn’t it?!
    🙂

Marina, there definitely is evidence that the bird was scared. I’m going back out to rescue it as soon as I get my courage up.

Those bejeebers do not look as delicious as the goose bejeebers around my neighborhood. Mom says, “Gross!” I say, “Mmmmm…”

Love and licks and a bite if I can manage it,

Cupcake, the birds around here don’t have very good bejeebers. They’re just good for making messes, but there’s not enough to even get a taste. I think we need to import some geese.

Ginger, I wish you would have shared some of that with me. Oh well, maybe next time.

Dogs may not fly but that doesn’t mean some don’t have feathers 🙂

BZ, I guess a few dogs have been caught with feathers in their mouths.

Whatever happened on your trail happened in my back yard, too. Let me know when you solve the mystery!

Shary, I might have to check out your back yard for some clues. Is your weather better than mine? We have lots of rain here today.

OMD! *gasps* the last two pictures are so scary….they are telling something not good happened to the bird….I hope he/she escaped safely……oh no….I’m keeping my paws crossed for him/her, Bongo.

Kevin, I never did find that bird. I’m keeping my paws crossed too, but it’s still a mystery.

I’ve never wondered where feathers come from… I have found them before but the thought never crossed my mind. Hmmm…

Writer Rabbit, that might be something you could write about. The mystery of feathers.

Bongo, was Sratchy with you on your trails?

Little Binky, I can’t blame Scratchy for this. He likes to look at the birds out the window, but he’s not allowed to go out and get them.

Are you sure that Scratchy doesn’t have a paw in this terrible crime?

Kolytyi, I would totally blame Scratchy but he was in the house the whole time. My person won’t let him out to get the birds.
