What kind of day is it today, person? What’s a Palm Sunday? Is that when you give me loves all day with the palm of your hand?
Well, what is it then?
He did? Jesus rode on a donkey? Hey, there’s an animal in this story. I think I’m going to like it. Does this donkey talk like Balaam’s donkey?
Okay, I’ll listen.
My person says Jesus came riding into Jerusalem on a donkey and the people were happy to see him because of the miracles he had done. They spread their cloaks and branches on the road before Jesus and they took palm branches and went out to meet him.
Oh, now I get it. That’s why it’s called Palm Sunday because of the palm branches. What’s a palm branch, person? I don’t think I’ve seen one of those.
Why do they grow in Phoenix, but not here? Can we go to Phoenix so I can see palm branches?
Okay, I’m listening.
When Jesus and the donkey came by the people shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”
Some of the Pharisees (the guys who didn’t like Jesus because he gave them what for) told Jesus to tell his disciples to be quiet. You know what Jesus said? He said, “If they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.”
You mean the donkey doesn’t talk, but the stones do?

eof737, it’s been great. My person left me home and waved palm branches at church but she made up for it. She stopped by the neighbors when she got home and they gave me some T bones. Yum yum!

Oh Dog! The end is near. Ya ever noticed how we still act this way today? There’s some people who are just looking for an excuse to throw stones.

Rumpy, what if when someone picked up a stone to throw it started talking to them and said, “Don’t do it”?

What a wonderful post at the beginning of Holy Week! What a wild roller coaster ride for Jesus this week… coming into Jerusalem to cheers, only to be persecuted and killed and then to rise again! Great Post!!!
God Bless You!

Thanks Collies and Chuck. And to think Jesus knew it was all going to happen – and he did it anyway – for us.

Bongo, It’s a beautiful, but sad story, but the way you tell it I always have a big smile on my face. Don’t ask me why 🙂

Hey Bongo,
I think if the Donkey did talk he’d say “Hey, No stone throwing, let’s all just be nice and have fun 🙂 ”
Have a fun day buddy,
Your pal Snoopy 🙂

Snoopy, it would be so nice if everyone could get along. Maybe we should all listen to the donkey.

Palm branches….hmmmm they’re the same as sticks aren’t they? I don’t think I could have left them alone if I were there! *waggy tail*

Alfie, I don’t think palm branches would throw as well as sticks, but I’m sure they’re just as good to chew on.

I didn’t know about the day ” Palm Sunday”, so this post is very interesting to us! As we don’t celebrate Easter in Japan, we have got quite lots of days that we don’t know the meaning and didn’t know what “Good Friday” means, either. Since your person tells these stories, we are very interested in what each days means and often check them on internet, too! Thanks for telling us, Bongo and we’re looking forward to more stories! 🙂

Kevin, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my stories. Good Friday is the day Jesus died on the cross. It seems kind of strange to call it good, but he had to die to be resurrected on Easter. My person says she’ll tell me more about this for my Easter story.

Sunshine, my person says I keep getting distracted when she’s telling me stories. I’m not sure why she says that.

hehe, the trick Bongo, is to look your persons right in the eyes when story time comes around. That way, whatever distractions you want to do will go way over your persons head . . . like a flying Frisbee! Lol!

Sunshine, maybe my person will get distracted instead. Oh, maybe that’s not good. She might forget to tell me the rest of the story.
