Puddle Invasion

01 Aug

Butterfly near a puddleMy puddle, that disappears to who knows where sometimes, has been hanging around lately. But now I have another problem.

Other creatures have been coming and thinking it’s their puddle.

I see lots of footprints and I know someone’s been around when I’m not there to stop it. And they think they can get away with it!

Sometimes birds try to use my puddle for a bathtub. That’s pretty nervy of them. They need to find their own bathtub.

But today, I caught a butterfly trying to take over my puddle. Just hanging out there, as if that puddle belonged to him.

Butterfly

What am I going to do? Before I know it there will be lots of butterflies – and birds- and sneaky night creatures.

If I’m not careful that puddle will get tired of everybody hanging around and it will disappear again.

This is not good. I’ve got to think of something.

Oh, I know what I’ll do.

Nala, that puddle is nice. I just don’t like sharing it. Is that selfish of me?

Penny, I can read. Do you think those other creatures can’t? I could be in serious trouble then. They might even land on my sign.

I think a sign is a great idea!

Elka has a puddle at the park that’s “hers”, but I don’t know if she’d mind seeing a butterfly there. She loves watching things that fly!

Jen, I’m more into smells than flying things and butterflies don’t have much smell.

Karen, I think I may have to put a light over the sign for the night creatures though. Otherwise they won’t be able to read it.

that looks a mighty big puddle and seems to be made for sharing with creatures smaller than yourself. especially butterflies, after all butterflies do not drink much and might only want to paddle their tiny feet in cool water

Puddles do come and go, but marking it is always a good dog move to ensure that other’s know it’s yours. It won’t hurt to let the others have a bit of mud though would it? The Butterflies actually have their babies there in the mud puddle 🙂

Lexie and Mica, maybe I should change the sign to tell big creatures to stay out of my puddle. I think they’re the ones that scare it into disappearing.

Oh my .. butterflies or flutterbyes as the collies call them. They love chasing them around….. Ginger says have your person get a lifesize picture of you and put it on cardboard and stand it up by the puddle and have you rub on it and no one will come by your pond then! 🙂

Great idea sweet Bongo. Let us know if your sign works. We thing those butterflies are really pretty, you think maybe you can share your trail and pond with them? The birds would be a nice attraction too, but those night creatures now they may need to go. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, I think I chased everyone away from my pond. The birds like the trees better and we don’t get many butterflies on my trails. I may have to go out there at night though to make sure the night creatures aren’t hanging around. Hugs and nose kisses back to you.
