Happy Festival of Sleep Day

03 Jan

Bongo SleepingToday is Festival of Sleep Day. This day happens January 3rd every year and it’s creating quite a dilemma for me.

I want to make sure I do it right, and that means I have to find just the right place to sleep.

.

.

.

Bongo on the bed

The most obvious place would be my person’s bed. But for some reason unknown to me I get kicked off her bed anytime she finds me there. I guess I won’t get much sleep on the bed today.

Bongo on the Couch

The couch would be another great place to sleep, but it seems to have the same problem as the bed. I know some of my friends are allowed on couches. I’d appreciate any helpful hints on how you convinced your people to let you do this.

Living Room Sleeping

I could sleep in the living room – right in the middle of everything, so my people will have to walk around me all the time.

Bongo and Scratchy on the floor

But then Scratchy might come and hang out next to me.

Summer Sleeping Spot

The bathroom is a nice, out of the way place. No one bothers me in there – well, not very often that is. And the tiles are nice and cool. They feel good when it’s hot. Oh, wait. This is January. Cool tiles are not good now..

Bongo in the sunny spot with Scratchy behind him

That settles it. I’m sleeping in the sunny spot.

Patreciau, you could join me in the sunny spot. We could cuddle up together.

I agree on the sunny spot. Well, you could ask your person to get you a nice big soft bed [a sofa like one preferably] and place it at that sunny spot!
    🙂

Marina, that’s a great idea. And maybe I could even get my person to move that soft bed around the room when the sunny spot moves.

I think you highly deserve a huge, very-very comfy, soft and well-smelling, WHEELED doggy-bed. 🙂

Kolytyi, you are my new best friend for saying that. Now to convince my person…

Bongo, the sunny spot moves. My dogs aren’t allowed on the furniture either. They sleep under my feet. Sixty pound dogs, sleeping where I’ll step on them when I get up … I think my dogs want me to break my neck.

FleaByte, I guess I should have added an “Under my feet” spot to my post. My person says she never has her camera handy when I’m sleeping there.

Will and Eko, I wish this was a holiday every day. I think I celebrate it every day anyway.

Benny & Lily, I think a national holiday is in order for this one. I’m writing to my congressman right now.

Bongo – you need to get your mom to buy you a bed of your own! We recommend this one:

We give it five paws up!

Kat n Collies, this looks like a great bed. I’m trying to talk my person into getting me one – for every room in the house.

Good choice sweet Bongo. We are glad you found a nice place to sleep. We were feeling sorry for you and Mumsy was wanting to come get you and let you sleep on our couch or in Popsy’s chair. Hugs and nose kisses

Chancy and Mumsy, I’ll be right over to sleep on your couch. Does it have a sunny spot? Hugs and nose kisses back to you.

Bongo, that’s new for me, I haven’t heard of sleep day yet. Usually I have sleeping festivals the whole year, but now I was outside during the afternoon, but if I had known this was a sleeping day, I definitely was laying in bed.. as usual 🙂
Btw we have a nomination for you, so if you’re ready with the festival, hop on over to my place, ok 😉

Angels Whisper, I bet Little Binky was celebrating Festival of Sleep Day. Thanks for the nomination. You are so pawsome.

Emily, that sunny spot worked out great – until it went away.

The sunny spot is PERFECT, B. I also enjoy the bathroom rug. I am not allowed on the bed, unless the comforter is off and Mom is in bed with me. As far as couch sitting, it’s all about the cute face and then just keep trying and trying. It worked for me!

    Love and licks,

Cupcake, I guess I’ll have to keep working on my cute face. Thanks for the tip.

ROFL! Bongo….I couldn’t stop giggling while I was reading today’s post….you’re so funny….always you are! You get kicked off your person’s bed ? Oh no….*whispers* So do I…….I don’t know why either…but I’m allowed to get on the coach…because at first I was not then after I tore some parts of them, my mom gave up….the coach has got really messy though….OOps!
I’m glad you finally managed to find a good spot to get a sleep! Sunny spot is the best! We need sun and laugh!!! 🙂

Kevin, maybe if I mess up the couch I’ll be allowed to sleep on it. It doesn’t work with the bed though. Every time my person leaves the house I get on her bed and mess it up. I have to make sure I get off of it before she gets home though.

Lexie and Mica, I was wondering if anyone would notice Scratchy there. Whenever I find a good spot I always end up having to share it with Scratchy.

Kirby, humans can put a damper on our sleep. I think we should be allowed to sleep anywhere they sleep.

Sunspots are great in the winter! Ginger says if you want on the couch you got to plot and scheme. Keep at it, wear down her defenses and eventually she will give up… if that dont work just grab a cushion and pull it down on the floor and sleep on it. If she tries to move become deadweight and very liquid like… if she lifts up your body, just flow around her arms and she will give that up too… I have millions of schemes… muwahahahaha

    • Bongo

      January 4, 2013 at 12:30 pm

Ginger, I think I’m going to have to try some of those. My dog bed is way in the corner of my person’s room so I usually only sleep on it when my person is in the room. An extra bed or two would be nice.

    Hey Bongo, Jet here.

Great holiday… you should patent it! About sleeping on the furniture… Mom invited us from day 1… something about her waiting all her life to live with fur family members. A thought… show the Person how cuddly and snuggly you would be if you were next to her… works with Mom all the time.

    • Bongo

      January 4, 2013 at 8:46 pm

Hey Jet, for some reason my person thinks I would take over the whole couch and push her off. I wouldn’t do that. I’d only push Scratchy off.

I don’t have any luck w/the bed either & the way to get a couch nap is to technically not quite get all the way on the couch. You can keep 1 leg sort of down by the floor and I think that counts as not being “on” the couch but the best way is to wait for your person to sit down, then drape yourself right on top of her so she can’t get up. Works pretty well but sometimes you end up with a fun wrestling match. Myself, I’m loving it because I get to go sleep on the snow, that’s my very favorite.

Lola, I think I’m going to have to try your couch tricks. It sounds like they might work for me. I wish we had more snow here – except I probably would be too busy playing in it to sleep in it.

Bongo, it makes me feel like a pup again. Why I was out there yesterday twirling and running – I think I was going over 100 mph! Boy was I movin’

Remy, the sunny spot is an awesome place, as long as you wake up and move every once in awhile when the spot moves.
