I keep hearing people talk about New Year’s resolutions. I wasn’t sure what they were so I asked my person. She said they were things that people wanted to do, or thought they should do, but they hadn’t yet done them – often things like eating healthier, exercising more, getting more rest, or accomplishing something. So they decide to make a resolution that at the beginning of the New Year they will start doing whatever it is they think they should be doing.
My person said that most people don’t stick to their resolutions for very long. Starting a new year is not enough motivation for starting a new resolution. People need to find a better motivation, and start whatever it is they want to start right now – not wait until the next New Year.
I got really concerned, because I didn’t want to start any resolutions that I would just drop in a little while. But my person said to start new things now, and now happens to be the start of a new year. So I thought I’d make a list of resolutions that I know I won’t stop. Here’s my list:
- Take naps every day.
- Go for walks every day.
- Find a new scent on every walk.
- Get loves from at least one cute girl on every walk (unless I don’t meet any).
- Play Frisbee every day.
- Write a blog post every day.
- Eat doggie treats every day.
- Bark at every stranger that comes to the house (gotta warn my people).
- Get my person out of bed if she sleeps too long.
And last but not least –
10. Eat all the food in my doggie dish (except any olives I find).
My person pointed out to me that I already do all the things on my list. I don’t think she gets it. My resolutions cover eating right, exercising, resting, and getting things done – and I’ll still be doing them by the end of the year.
