National Walk Your Dog Week

Bongo walking in a dry washWe’re right in the middle of it – and it’s one of the best weeks there is.

It means I get to go out for walks every day.

Wait a minute. I go out for walks almost every day anyway.

So what’s so special about this week?

I guess I’d better tell you what week it is.

It’s National Walk Your Dog Week.

And I’ve got to tell all you dogs out there that if you’re not taking your people for walks all the time you’re missing out on a lot of adventures.

Bongo walking out of his puddle

My person says it’s good exercise for her and for me. I guess that’s okay.

But what’s more important are the messages I find on my trails from my trail dog buddies.

And the dogs and people I get to meet and greet.

Bongo and Layla rubbing heads

By the way, I think I got a new girlfriend today. She was really cute and she wouldn’t leave me alone. Woo woo! More benefits of going out for walks.

If I didn’t go out for walks all the time my life would be boring.

I wouldn’t have adventures to tell you about.

So if I didn’t go for walks and have adventures you’d probably fall asleep when you read my blog.

It would be that boring.

It would probably be like reading a blog that Scratchy wrote.

Scratchy on the Couch

Come to think of it, maybe I should start a National Walk Your Cat Week. Scratchy might have something interesting to say then.

Oh wait, never mind. He’d probably try to steal my blog.

Missing Bongo???

Scratchy on the DoorThis is Scratchy here again. Still hanging out in the house by myself. I’ve been wondering what to do so I decided to try a balancing act. I thought I’d see what my younger person has on the top of his bookshelf and the top of the door is the way to get there.

It was a little tricky getting up here and now I’ve got to figure out the best way to get down.

Okay, I admit it. I’m really bored and I had to make up something to tell you. After all, Bongo’s not around to know I’m on his blog so I’ve got to write something.

That picture of me is real, my person didn’t Photoshop it or anything, but she took it a long time ago. I’m not as spry as I used to be and besides, the furniture’s been rearranged and there’s no bookshelf near the door anymore.

I can’t believe I’m saying this. I’m actually missing Bongo.

Scratchy on the CouchThis is Scratchy here. Bongo’s not around so I guess I’ll take over his blog. It’s really quiet here. Everybody left me. No Bongo, no people – just me and the frog.

I wish my person had forgotten and left the bathroom door open. She keeps the frog in there so I can’t get it. That would be one tasty morsel. But no – she had to shut that door and all she left me is a big bowl of cat food.

I kind of miss everybody. Even Bongo. I pretend I don’t like him, but sometimes he’s kind of nice to have around to keep me company. Oops. Did I say that?

Never mind. I really miss my people. I miss the head rubs and being able to bug them for food at dinner time – and when they come home after Bongo’s stolen my food.

Well Bongo can’t steal my food now. He’s not here for a few days. Guess I’ll go make a dent in my great big bowl of cat food and then stretch out for a nap.

Best Toys

Scratchy and his toyI’m really bummed. My person said that I’m not allowed to post to my blog anymore unless I share it with Scratchy sometimes. Okay, I guess so. Scratchy, it’s your turn now.

Hi everybody. It’s me, Scratchy. This is fun taking over Bongo’s blog and I don’t even have to sneak this time. My person made Bongo let me write. I thought I’d tell you about my absolutely favorite kind of toy in the world. I just love playing with chenille wires. My person says they used to call them pipe cleaners, but hardly anyone smokes a pipe anymore and they (whoever decides what to call things) probably didn’t want kids making crafts out of something that’s used to clean a pipe.

The first time I discovered how much fun these chenille things are I had to steal them from my younger person. That was when he was even more younger and still did crafts. Now that my person knows that I like them she gives them to me sometimes. It’s great fun to toss them around and pretend I’ve caught a mouse.

Scratchy – I’m taking my blog back. What you’re writing is so boring. Who cares about chenille wires. Balls and Frisbees are so much more fun – or maybe a squeaky stuffed animal – shaped like a cat.
