Mischievous Cat

Scratchy sleeping on a toy bearScratchy, the cat I live with doesn’t have his own blog because his life if boring.

He just hangs around the house.

No adventures. Nothing.

But lately Scratchy has been getting into so much mischief.

So much that I can’t wait for the Monday Mischief blog hop and post.

It would be way too long of a post.

.

You know what Scratchy did this morning?

You can kind of get an idea from the picture of him.

You see that thing he’s sleeping on.

Well, that’s my squeaky bear.

First Scratchy took over my old bed, and now he thinks he can steal my squeaky bear too.

Scratchy, you’d better think twice about stealing my bear because if you don’t give it back I’m locking you in dog cat jail.

Scratchy alone in the kennel

Alright Scratchy.

Here I come!

Give me back my bear now or you’re in for it.

Scratchy on the cabinets

Fine, go up there.

I guess you can’t do much mischief on top of the cabinets.

Bongo with his bear

At least I got my bear back.

A New Clue

Rock piles and BongoFor the last couple days I’ve been investigating a strange phenomenon on my trails.

The emergence (I’m not sure what that word means, but it sounds good.) of rock piles everywhere on my trails.

I’m sure that somebody has been turning boys and other living creatures into piles of rocks.

But I haven’t been able to figure out who is doing it.

And it’s really kind of scary, I mean, whoever it is could turn me into a pile of rocks at any time.

And if I don’t know who’s doing it, I might not see them coming.

.

But today I came across another clue.

While I was out investigating…

Wait, wait!

I can’t do any investigations without my Detective Dog hat.

Bongo looking cool with his Detective Dog hat on

There, that’s better.

Like I said, while I was out investigating I came across another clue.

I still don’t know who the culprit is, but now I know how he disguises himself.

Because I stepped back to see if I could get a different perspective (Wow! This Detective Dog hat really increases my vocabulary.) on things and I saw something I hadn’t seen before.

Small rainbow near the rock piles

Do you see it?

That culprit is still hanging about.

Look closer. He’s there.

That culprit is the one disguised as a rainbow.

Don’t ever trust a rainbow again – at least not one that hangs around rock piles.

Little Piles of Rocks

Bongo checking out little rock piles on the groundWhat is going on on my trails?

Yesterday I told you how those boys were turned into piles of rocks.

Now I’m finding little piles of rocks.

What could these be?

Mice?

They’re too small to be bunnies.

Birds maybe?

.

I think I’d better get my Detective Dog hat on and investigate this.

Detective Dog

That’s better.

If this keeps up everything that moves will be turned into piles of rocks.

I’d better find out who’s behind this.

Oh look! I’ve found more clues.

Trail cairn with a rock pile on top

That big pile of rocks under the wire is supposed to be there.

That marks the trail so people don’t get lost.

Well, less people get lost anyway.

But look what’s on top of that pile of rocks.

There’s another pile of rocks.

Someone’s trying to be sneaky now and disguise their piles.

They’re hoping no one will notice what they’re up to.

Well, I have noticed!

And I’m going to get to the bottom of this.

I’d better hurry too.

Because if I don’t find the culprit soon enough someone might sneak up behind me…

Bongo dog looking away from the cairn

and turn me into a pile of rocks.

Where’s the Boys?

High school hang out spotWhat’s this?

Isn’t this the spot on my trails where the boys sometimes hang out?

Hmm.

I don’t see any boys now.

All I see are a bunch of rock piles where the boys usually are.

.

.

Tall piles of rocks

These rock piles are really tall.

Rock piles have been sprouting up here and there on my trails lately – but I’ve never seen any this big.

They must be special rock piles.

But where did those boys go?

Bongo checking behind the rock piles

Are they hiding back here?

Bongo sniffing the bushes behind the rock piles

Maybe they’re hiding in the bushes.

I don’t see those boys anywhere.

I wonder if they hid underground.

I’d better check.

Bongo digging near the rock piles

Oh wait. What’s this?

This is proof.

Those boys are here.

Blue airsoft pellet

It’s an airsoft pellet.

A sure sign that boys are here.

But where are they?

Oh.

Oh no.

I finally figured it out.

I know where they are.

No wonder those rock piles are really tall.

Someone turned those boys into rocks.

Bongo sniffing a rock pile

Yup, it’s them alright.

Who’s going to go tell their mothers?

Mischief on Me

Bongo looking like he doesn't know what to doToday is Monday Mischief Day and if it was up to me I wouldn’t have a thing to write about today.

After all, I am the perfect dog.

I never get into mischief.

Well, if I do it’s all Scratchy’s fault.

But this weekend my people were totally full of mischief.

They locked me in dog jail and went off hiking without me.

I can’t believe they didn’t take me.

.

And they used some excuse about me going over the cliff.

Bongo part way down the cliff

Well yeah, there was water down there that time.

I wanted to get to the creek.

I won’t go down a cliff with no water at the bottom.

But not only would my people not listen to me, now my person is stealing my blog so she can post pictures on it.

And I’m not in a single one of them.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Talk about rubbing it in.

Leaf Dropping

Manzanita bush with leaves on the groundWhat’s this?

This is the wrong time of the year.

And those leaves are the wrong color to be on the ground.

As a matter of fact, Manzanita leaves don’t fall to the ground.

They stay on the bushes all year.

And since this is the only place on my whole trails with a pile of leaves like this, I know there’s some culprit somewhere who is guilty of leaf dropping.

.

And it’s up to me to find out who it is.

Bongo sniffing the manzanita bush

I’m sure that leaf dropper left some evidence somewhere around this bush.

Hmmm. It’s hard to sort out the messages.

I’d better work on it though.

After all it is one of my favorite things to do.

Bongo sniffing under the manzanita bush

I bet there’s something under here.

It’s closer to the grounded leaves.

I’m sure there’s something under here that will give me a hint as to who the culprit is.

Bongo sniffing the bush with his feet near the fallen leaves

Nothing. Nada. I’m not having any luck.

I’m not finding any clues anywhere.

There’s only one thing I can tell for sure.

Those leaves have fallen and they can’t get up.

Monster Outside

Bongo outside with glowing eyesSomething really scary happened at my house.

There was a monster outside in my yard.

He had glowing eyes and he beckoned me to come out with him.

I don’t know what he wanted to do to me, but there was no way I was going to hang out with that monster.

So I stayed inside.

.

.

.

.

.

Bongo looking like he doesn't know what to do

I stayed close to my dog jail so I could hide in there if I needed to.

But then that monster came closer.

He tried to get in the house.

He even scratched on the door.

Bongo with glowing eyes outside a glass door

This is getting really serious.

Bongo looking serious

What am I going to do!?

That monster is going to break through the door!

Then my person got up.

I tried to warn her but she went over to the door anyway.

And she opened it.

Yikes! Woof! Bark bark! Yeoww! Woo woo!

I gave that monster what for and then my person said the strangest thing.

That monster is not me!

How can that monster be me?

Look, I’m sitting here as perfect as can be.

Bongo looking kind

I’ve been here all the time.

And I did not put those scratches on that door.

You know there’s a monster out there.

Slacking Again

Brown DogAwhile back I wrote about a dog I found who wasn’t doing her job.

You can check that story out here.

You see, she was out on my trails without giving a person a walk.

And that’s one of a dog’s jobs.

We’ve got to give our people exercise.

So today, guess who I saw.

The same brown dog slacking on the job again.

She was out having a great time all by herself.

At least she was friendlier this time.

Brown dog with Bongo

Oooh! I think I might have found a new girlfriend.

If she doesn’t have a person to give a walk to, she can help me give my person walks.

I was getting really excited at the thought of having a new girlfriend that would help out in the walk department when someone showed up.

It was my new girlfriend’s friend’s person.

And another dog too.

So much for that plan.

I wonder if there are any other cute girl dogs running around by themselves on my trails.

Empty Shell

Bongo checking out a peanut shellWhat’s this?

Somebody left something for me on my front porch?

Oh, I know what it is.

It’s a shell.

An empty shell.

.

.

Bongo's nose and a peanut shell

And I bet I know who left it here too.

That pesky squirrel.

Squirrel on a wire

The one that hangs out around here and gives me a bad time.

The one who stole my Christmas lights.

Squirrel in a tree with a Christmas light in his mouth

I bet that pesky squirrel thinks I’ll forgive him since he left me these peanut shells.

I bet that squirrel thinks he can trick me into being his friend.

But I know better than that.

I know what he’s up to.

He’s using my porch as a place to dump his garbage and trying to make me feel happy that he’s doing it.

But that pesky squirrel can’t fool me.

I know what he’s up to.

Because if that squirrel was sincere – if he was actually trying to make up for stealing my Christmas lights –

He would have left me the peanuts!

Travelling Afar

Bongo in the 4RunnerSometimes I go travelling in a car.

.

.

.

.

.

.

And sometimes I travel by foot.

Bongo heading down the trail

I’ve never before travelled so far that I couldn’t come back the same day.

But this time I went a whole lot further.

I’m not even sure how I got there.

I don’t remember getting there.

But I was there – I know it.

I have proof.

I really went there.

I really did go to Sydney.

I went and hung out with a bunch of friends.

My person says it takes hours and hours to get there from here – even if you go on a big jet.

I don’t remember hours and hours and I don’t remember anything about a big jet, so there must be another way.

My person told me there is another way.

She says I probably went there in my dreams.

Bongo curled up in his kennel

That must be it!

I never knew you could really travel somewhere in your dreams.

I guess I learned something today.

Because I’m not making this up.

I did really go there.

I’ve got proof.

And if you don’t believe me, click here.

See, I really was in Sydney, wasn’t I?
